Only outside guy I can confirm right now is James Jones. Maybe better off w/ in-house options RT @Amer_Mansour So who ARE they talking to?

In-house options would be Gee/Hairston. Suppose Bogans could be back for minimum. Mason, no way. @kevinajones7

I would have liked him here for defense, obviously, but he has such an ugly shot that supposedly would be hard for him to improve due to a childhood accident.
Anyway, the Bulls offered him $12.5 mil/3 years. It’s arguable if he’s worth the money, and we wouldn’t be able to match that.

Really? I like that deal for Redick. I think it’s about right. He played really well when they gave him the minutes. Did you watch the Orlando series? He was one of their best players in the playoffs.

No argument there. Still too much unless they give him more minutes than Vince “Half man half season” Carter.

His D is problematic. He’s got worse matchup problems than George Hill. That, as much as anything, limits his minutes.

He actually plays defense well. I know it doesn’t make sense. He’s a short white guy from Duke, normally they don’t D-up. But Redick is feisty.

Am I missing something here? I thought one of the issues for the owners in the collective bargaining talks that threaten a lockout next year was how huge the contracts had become. Yet here they go with all these big paydays.

Yeah, and that’s why the lockout is even more of a possibility now. Because the stupid owners are contradicting themselves by throwing all this money at awful contracts.

That’s always how sports work. Owners say they want a better CBA, but then they spend like crazy. The reason they spend like crazy is to win (or because a GM convinces them that he’s smart). A lockout will occur unless the players make a pretty sizable concession and I don’t see that happening. The reasons lockouts work is because it forces everybody to take a step back, not just one or two owners.
It seems like it’s really snow-balling this year. It’s really the perfect storm. All these teams created cap space so they could make a run at one of the many free agents available. And all the players that can are opting out so that they can protect themselves from a lockout with a longer contract. And we have idiots like KAHHHNNNN out there.

They’re spending a lot because they have to, fellas. If they don’t, there will be someone who will, and owners can’t afford someone stealing away one of their stars or major players. Can you imagine the Raptors without even Johnson, the Grizz without even Gay? There’s too many desperate owners out there who weren’t involved in the LeWosh sweepstakes and feel they absolutely must make a major move, especially before the CBA which will virtually eliminate new major accquisitions.
It’s not that there’s so many dumb owners, it really just takes one or two and snowballs. It’s identical to PtR in that way.

Nah, it won’t be nearly as you predict. We’ll just buy our way into greatness, putting no regard into actually developing talent or creating a long-term plan. We’ll give no respect or honor to true sport by manufacturing inorganic team talent. It’ll be basically an all-star team and though we’ll win, without ever talking about it publicly we’ll be dead inside.
No, wait. That’s somebody else I’m thinking of.

The only reason I can imagine for the spurs to be waiting on RJ is if he really doesn’t want to come back and is desperatly looking elsewhere for a contract

Starting wouldn’t mean finishing nor having the most minutes. Assuming Manu comes off the bench, Anderson would be the first “starter” leaving the game. Hill comes in for Tony, and then perhaps both Hill & Manu remain in with Tony when he returns. Of the 4, I’d think Anderson might have the least time (barring injuries) but makes the rotation work so that either Tony or Manu are on the court at all times.
How is it a lock that he’s IN the rotation? That must have been a news day that I missed or something.

Subtract Mason and Bogans from the roster, add Anderson. Who else takes their minutes? We don’t want Manu playing more. Tony might pick up a few extra, same with George, but Anderson i think is a lock for at LEAST 10 a game.

I could rattle off a laundry list of a dozen players that I thought were locks or virtually there to be in the rotation, only to suddenly not even be on the roster months later. Anderson’s talented, but also raw. I hope you’re prophetic and he’s at least on the bench, but I’m timid.
I guess what I’m saying is until every old weathered veteran Michael Finley-like guard is snapped up out there, I’m just watching.

Diawara is a pretty good defender and has great size/athleticism for a SF, but he’s even worse offensively than Ronnie Brewer. He would have to have a brain transplant from Chip to make any improvements worth speaking of.

D@mn… I was hoping for JJ. I think he’s re-signing for the vet’s min. so I have to respect his loyalty to the team that bought him out (to clear cap space for LeBron et al.)… SA could offer more.
Even if the Spurs re-sign RJ, a backup like JJ would have been nice. Let’s see now, who’s available? Does anyone have Bruce’s number handy?

If Penny Hardaway is saying that he’s ready to come back, Bruce should be more than able to make a return.

I just read ESPN’s “report” about the Jones signing, and it says that we offered Jones $6 million. from the MLE. Those dimwits should hire one of us PtRers.

Maybe it was 3 years/$6M.
The people of the village fell silent, as the beast opened its mouth. And then the beast spoke, and said "LOL BRO".
Most likely, but whoever wrote it said that we offered him “the $6 million mid-level exception,” so it was not only wrong about the yearly deal, but also about the size of the MLE this season. They also referred to Jones as “James” in the headline—just bad reporting.

Sign and Trade Jefferson and trade Tony Parker with him to Miami for LeBron James. James is only making 14.5 million. Ah, but he can’t hit the corner 3. Nah scratch that, we don’t want him.

Bill Walker. Anthony Randolph. Danilo Gallinari. Kelenna Azubuike. The Knicks are the ones we wanna trade with.

Are you in Walsh’s payroll? :)
Ok, I’ll bite. Even for Parker alone that trade (between just the two teams) is a no go. Just looking at the Knick’s roster you’ll see their dilemma. They need more bodies, and trading four for one isn’t gonna help. I read somewhere this is one of the reasons for the Lee trade to GS. They could of course package one of your suggestions with Eddy Curry for the numbers to work but unless the FO had a Kahn moment, that ain’t gonna happen.
I had a dream that we signed & traded RJ for Wilson Chandler & Gallinari and then signed Rasual Butler. Kinda weird, since I’ve never dreamed about the Spurs before, at least not that I remember.

I’ll take a guess. . .because he’s not Worthy?
Which reminds me. I have actually been waiting for the right time to suggest that rather than stealing the nickname “Big Game James”, that “James – he’s not Worthy – Anderson” would be more appropriate.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
