Nets Get Their 'King': Nets name Billy King new general manager after month-long search

Here's the interesting part: "The Nets issued a statement announcing the arrival of the 44-year-old King, who edged out former Duke teammate Danny Ferry for the position after both had interviewed with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov Tuesday in Manhattan." There were persistent rumors that new Nets coach Avery Johnson wanted to have some 'sway' over the next general manager; someone who, for all intents and purposes, is suppose to be his boss. In that respect, I can see why Danny Ferry may have lost out to Billy King; someone who was noted to have been influenced by former-Sixers coach Larry Brown, during their time spent in Philly. I can't say this is a good move for the Nets. King may have drafted Thaddeus Young and Andre Iguodala, but he also gave Igoudala and Elton Brand those mammoth, unmovable contracts. Plus, he thought it would be a brilliant idea to bring back Allen Iverson.
