Well, shit.

Start baking cookies and writing love notes…
Because SA doesn’t have the ability to match Portland if they make a huge offer.

This is going to be about heart and “family”.

I guess the only way this makes sense for RC is if they offer him a lot more money? I have a hard time seeing this happening, but I sure hope it doesn’t. RC has been great for us.
I think DDworld said it best.
“I’d need both big money and very strong guarantees to work for a guy who fired a GM on draft night.”

I doubt this really means anything for us. It’s probably much more likely that Danny Ferry gets hired since he’s opting to leave Cleveland.

No way would he do this. He’s got too much invested in this team, with Pop and TD… when they both retire, it’s all up in the air, but I can’t imagine him doing this now just for more money. Is there internal strife we don’t know about?

A lot of people saying “not worried”. Sorry, but I am worried – that is a really attractive job. Portland has some great young talent, a great coach, passionate and supportive fans, and most worrisome – an owner with very deep pockets who is not afraid to spend money.

Yes, it is very alluring, but then again, they’re also the ones that fired Pritchard, of all people. He’s up there with RC in his shrewdness, so that has to be a bit disconcerting. Allen either had extremely high expectations of Pritchard, or they had a pretty big disagreement of some sort. RC also has a full plate in front of him with the draft just taking place, continuing to work on getting Splitter in silver & black, and getting the rest of the roster together. I don’t think he’s going to be that involved in considering quitting on us now.

He
Better have the situation with Splitter worked out already. If he is still working on it, we’re in trouble.
Definitely true, BlazeE, but I’m not sure how close it should be to a done deal by now, but obviously it isn’t yet and can’t be until next Thursday, so he still has something to do.

I always got the impression Pritchard was a little bit brash and arrogant and has pissed off a lot of people in his time. The firing was not about expectations as much as FO chemistry (my non-insider impression). Also, I would not say he is up there with RC – has done a decent job, but IMO RC would have done a lot better with all the resources Pritchard had.

You’re thinking that RC would’ve picked Durant over Oden?
Be careful; apparently I'm unrelenting in my bonhomie.
Here is an interesting take on the firing:
Canzano on KP
Whatever the cause, Allen has shown himself to be a lousy people manager. Any problems should have been discussed and handled behind closed doors as they were developing.

That’s the Chicago San Antonio way.
