"But unless an NBA team can see through the fog and find a deal that works for Mahinmi (by providing a reasonable opportunity for playing time), joining an upper echelon European club makes the most sense for the Frenchman"

To me, having the Spurs sign him and send him to get some playing time would be ideal (assuming they wouldn’t or couldn’t play him enough). The man’s got the physical tools to be really good, but he needs to develop and this may not be the team for to do that on.

Never really impressed by what i saw of the guy…….he has the physique of a potential great player but that has not resulted into any greatness – maybe you’re right but I am not convinced

He was an all-star in the D league, right?

What does he have to do to get some run with the Spurs? He hasnt even had a half-way legitimate shot at it, so I dont know how anyone can make a judgement on his NBA ability

Okay, just so I understand it... in your wildest fantasy, you are in hell. And you are co-running a bed and breakfast with the devil.

Not play defense with his hands/keep his hands up.

Give him a shot, the guy is still 23 years old. Tall, athletic, decent jump shot and cheap.

let’s make him our starting center, bench Dice and pair him with Blair, small ball!!!

Yo, I’m 6-11, but I just want to dribble through my legs and shoot jumpshots like a guard. - Marc Blucas on Tim Duncan

Splitter/Yawn doesn’t sound like a bad starter/bench combo for the 5 spot.

"We suck on 'D. Both individually and team-wise, we suck. We're pretty consistent that way. I don't know if I have an answer to that. If I did, we wouldn't suck quite so bad." - Popovich

Wouldn’t bug me, if Yawn can keep himself from fouling for more than one minute at a time.

Yeah, I’m sure someone has said it before, but he averages 7 fouls/36 minutes O_O

I am sure if he played more, he’d get called less. He is so desperate to play that probably is trying to do too much in his limited minutes. It’s not like we want to play him 40 minutes a game anyway, so I don’t see, why this is such a big deal.
