WOW. If it takes a miracle shot for the Lakers to win against the Suns AT HOME, I wouldn’t feel too great about the win.

Hey jolly, no offense but does the 5 in 10 thing still apply for a Spurs fan? Maybe it’s just me I think the only remaining chance for 5 (rings) in 10 (2010) is by one of the teams in the Pacific division. Or should I say welcome to Lakerfandom my brother?
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
i’ve read this 4 times and i still don’t understand what you’re trying to say.

I noticed Jolly had a new signature but that it still includes ‘5 in 10’. I always thought that meant Duncan (Spurs) getting his 5th ring in 2010. Let’s just say that now seems unlikely.
So perhaps he is rooting for Kobe and Fisher to get their 5th this season? Or perhaps he now means in 2110?
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
Congrats on advancing, Olf. I have to say Kobe is something else. No other player in the NBA has his killer rapist instinct.

Wow Sasha really showed what a classy bunch they are, totally unprovoked. If he was a Spur, he could count on being gone or riding the pine for the rest of his career. Guess he took lessons from Fisher.
So now it is down to the Lakers or the Celtics, hmmm…. who do I detest the most? It’s so bad I won’t even watch the games, just check to see who won. Wish winning was the only thing important to me, then I could be a Lakers fan.
Go to the dark side…never. I’ll head to the almost dark side …Go Celtics.

Yeah I know we already established that your team wins the “Miss Congeniality Award” of the decade and all. And they’re so pretty. I mean how can we possibly complete with that??
I guess The Finals won’t be as much fun winning without Spurs fans watching but we’ll just have to make due. Although it does make me happy when I think about who IS at home watching LeBron, Shaq, Carmelo, Steve, Amare all of Portland and that’s before I even get to Texas.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
You know what amazes me is that you never really address just how unprofessional your team acts. Is it really all about winning no matter how?
Would you really hold your team up to young players on how to conduct yourself on and off the court? Seriously I would love to know how you as a Lakers fan feel about the issues I have pointed out.
Timmy D .... enough said.
I’ll just say that this is the NBA. A game (up to this point) played by men. Sorry it’s not some church rec. league.
And I get that Sasha V. got a flagrant foul and you don’t like Kobe or Fisher. Somehow I suspect that if they didn’t regularly beat the Spurs they wouldn’t bother you as much.
Btw instead of the "Miss Congeniality Award" I should have said the “Good Sportsmanship Award” above.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
Nope, you’re wrong there, OKC often beat us and I still think Durant is a stand up guy and one hell of a player. I don’t dislike a team for that or their top players. I didn’t dislike Fisher( even after the famous .04 shot) until he took Scola out with a cheap shot. Sasha, he has always acted like a punk riding on the coat tails of the rest of the team.
NBA played by men? Acting like punks that are playing street ball? They are professionals paid an unGodly sum of money, act like you belong there.
You still dodged the question, would you want your son to act like that on the court? And off the court? Would you want your son to be top news because of his negative actions? Or is fame and money all that is important? Oh wait, I forgot, as long as his team wins?
Timmy D .... enough said.
OKC often beat us
Never in the playoffs. Not very often in the reg. season even.
Now, back to Sasha. What bothers me the most about this year playoffs is that in the all-important game 3 against Phoenix some obscure bench player named Dragic got hot, and that whole Spurs team did nothing to stop him from taking the win from them. I just absolutely knew that the real championship contender would never ever let that happen. The Lakers may hurt Dragic, but won’t let Dragic hurt them. The Spurs used to be like that. They used to be able to throw Nash into the scorers’ table and throw Amar’e out of the game. Now they are too soft to stop Dragic. This is the major reason why their summer vacations started so early this year.
I don’t think it’s going out on a limb to say that Duncan doesn’t want to play for a losing club.- http://www.hardwoodparoxysm.com
Just watched the L A sports. Supposedly Sasha made an apology to the team for letting Dragic goad him into that and motivating the Suns to cut the lead from 18 down to 3. Supposedly Dragic was making comments in Slovenian about Sasha’s family. It was still a bone-head play but it hardly makes him the devil.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
I was using OKC as an example that I don’t dislike a team just because they beat us. We have never faced OKC in the playoffs but bet we will in the future. I don’t hate the Suns, yeah I know they only beat us once. I do dislike Amare because of the way he acts.
I get that we have become soft, but you can be tough without acting like a thug. AND you don’t have to act like a thug when you are winning. Period. THAT is why I don’t like the Lakers, the Celtics and the Mavs. They are not only sore losers, they are sore winners.
They aren’t good sportsmen either way.
As far as the jawing going on, that is what Sasha claims, Dragic declined to say what was said between them this game and the others before just that they don’t get along. Who knows what was said by either player, how many jabs, pokes etc that went on before now. But who lost their cool….Sasha. What I thought was interesting was that when you watched the replay you see Sasha’s eyes cut to see exactly where Dragic was as he “just raised his arms”. You don’t see that angle in the clip for the article I read. Did he hit him that hard, doubt it but he opened the opportunity for the foul. AND if this was the first time Sasha had acted like an idiot, I would let it go. I think even LA is sick of him.
As far as you getting it olf, I doubt you do. It’s not because Lakers have beat us, we have beat them many times as well. It is because of the actions of several of their players that I don’t like them . You have come to this blog and acted with class many times. Lately not so much. I am afraid you are taking your cues from Kobe. I miss the old olf.
Timmy D .... enough said.
I was using OKC as an example that I don’t dislike a team just because they beat us.
A very strange example indeed, choosing a team we never even met in the playoffs. I would add Milwaukee Bucks or Charlotte Bobcats as examples. I don’t dislike any of those teams. The Lakers and Dallas are the two teams that hurt us the most in last 10 years, and guess what? They both are on your short list of teams you despise. Of course, you despise them for some other, higher reasons, not because they were standing between us and the championship trophy on several occasions. Please. I am sure Phoenix fans think that Horry and Bowen were acting like thugs against them. Nobody likes teams and players who beat your team. They are guilty because they are winning.
I don’t think it’s going out on a limb to say that Duncan doesn’t want to play for a losing club.- http://www.hardwoodparoxysm.com
Kondor, I’m not talking about just the playoffs. I guess I’m a little odd that way, I seriously don’t feel any different during playoffs over regular season. It didn’t bother me that much that the Suns beat us this year. I didn’t like it, want to see the Spurs go all the way every year. But the Suns outplayed us and with the exception of Amare, acted like professionals all the way. So to me it didn’t matter what other team I used, I’m not referring to the playoffs. You can have an opinion, we all do. But don’t tell me how I feel. I feel the way I do about certain players which certain teams seem to have more of BECAUSE of the way they act all year.
olf, my comment was a reply to doggydogworld, not Jolly. We can agree on a few things here, Sasha is an idiot and I do hope you all have a meaningful Memorial Day as well.

But don’t tell me how I feel.
This definitely wasn’t my intention, I apologize if I sounded like I was trying to tell you how you feel. What I was trying to say was that your argument about OKC wasn’t really very convincing.
I know how I feel. I hate the Lakers with passion because they are so good. If they were as good as the Clippers, I would care about them as much as about the Clippers (not really that much). Right now Boston Celtics is my favorite team in the NBA, because they are the only team that has a chance to beat LA. They also are the team that knocked out LeBron and Shaq from the playoffs. I didn’t care much about the Celtics during the season, but now I love them.
I don’t think it’s going out on a limb to say that Duncan doesn’t want to play for a losing club.- http://www.hardwoodparoxysm.com
I didn’t mean that to sound as harsh as it did. I know I am a little odd about why I don’t like some players and teams. We are lucky to have a team that acts with class win or lose as well as one that won four titles while doing so.
Hey I like winning as much as the next guy(or old lady). And I like it when a team is getting physical with us for us to respond in kind. But I hate the showboating and gloating. Get over yourself. You know what I really hate….Kobe is so talented, almost impossible to stop. I love basketball and I can’t even enjoy watching him play because of the smirks, the taunts and other antics he pulls.
Timmy D .... enough said.
I am with you on Kobe, though I warmed up to him a bit after he became IMO a better teammate and real leader of his team. I see now LeBron as bigger evil. That kid is so talented and so spoiled. We have been really lucky with Tim, who is both an exceptional talent and a great role model. I see this in Durant so far, great talent and humility in success. Unfortunately, most of the superstars are not like that.
I don’t think it’s going out on a limb to say that Duncan doesn’t want to play for a losing club.- http://www.hardwoodparoxysm.com
My original post was to Jolly asking why he still has the phrase “5 in 10” in his signature.
You replied saying:
If there was any other player playing right now that could let his play speak for him, it’s Kobe. Can’t do it, no clue on how to act like a pro, has to showboat. Even when he wins he’s a loser.
I get that you don’t like him or the way he acts. Sasha’s an idiot but is hardly the first player in the league to get a flagrant foul. And I will also say that it makes me smile that you call the soft Lakers “thugs”. They will need all of that toughness to face the “physical play” of the Celtics.
I’ve said way more than enough about this topic. And I hope everybody has a meaningful Memorial Day.
Hey if repeating as champions were that easy even the Spurs could do it.
LA is sick of Sasha.
I’ve not encountered a single LA fan in real life that actually likes him. However, he barely plays so it doesn’t really bother too many of us.
Anyway, if “thug” behavior is what makes you hate teams, alot of people would say that the Spurs have employed their share of thugs in the past as well. Bowen was known as the dirtiest player in the league and Horry wasn’t exactly a saint either.
I’d agree with you except your own Kobe said Bowen wasn’t dirty, he enjoyed playing against him. Knew when he made a basket he had made it against the best defender in the league. Bowen moved his feet better than most and got under the opposing players skin. He played close, too close for some of the “Stars”, made them mad. I guess they felt like he should respect them more. Who was saying Bowen was the dirtiest player…let’s see Ray Allen for one. Right. But if you want to believe he was, that’s your right.
Horry was tough, guess he learned that with LA? Seriously I hated what happened with Nash, I don’t think Horry meant to take him out like that. I have heard some say that Nash sold that some too. I don’t know, just hated that for Horry at the end of his career. To be known as the guy who took Nash out.
Yep, glad we’re all in agreement that Sasha is an idiot, that guy’s butt is going to get sore from riding the pine for the rest of his career. That is if Kobe doesn’t kill him first.
Timmy D .... enough said.
This is exactly the point I was trying to make above. You need to have some nastiness if you want to win the championship. If we had Bowen and Horry we won’t see our season ended by Dragic. Those guys had hearts of champions, they hated the losing with passion. We were never swept when we had Horry and Bowen. We could lose a close game or close series, but not get swept.
I don’t think it’s going out on a limb to say that Duncan doesn’t want to play for a losing club.- http://www.hardwoodparoxysm.com
I agree but feel there is a big difference between stepping in, becoming a brick wall that a smaller guard bounces off of making him think twice about doing it again and hauling some one down from behind by their neck because they’re a better player than you.
Oh yeah when play was getting pretty chippy and I saw Horry coming in, my first thought was someone is gonna get a bruise. I remember KG knocking Tony down then screaming down at him, Tim slid in between and stared him down. Didn’t say a word, didn’t have to. KG got the message. When you’re giving it back to them after they start it, that’s a little different. But no bonehead moves that could end a player’s career.
I remember Howard and Terry admitting on his radio show that they try to hurt Manu every time he comes in the paint. Didn’t work cause they’re not as tough as he is or as fast. Plus Howard needs to realize that when you’re a stoner it’s hard to get worked up like that.
Timmy D .... enough said.
We weren’t a 7 seed when we had Horry and Bowen, either.
I don’t get this idea that Horry and Bowen would have taken Dragic out with a cheap shot. I never saw either do that. Bowen would get in his jersey, deny him the ball, not switch off and do whatever possible to distract him but he wasn’t a “hard foul guy”. Horry would have baited him into thinking he was alone at the rim before swatting the shot from behind. They would have communicated and worked together to avoid sending a hot shooter to the line.
Did Bowen and Horry take Tracy McGrady out when he scored 13 in 35 seconds or whatever to beat us?

I don’t get this idea that Horry and Bowen would have taken Dragic out with a cheap shot.
I didn’t say anything about cheap shots. Bowen was a nasty defender without taking cheap shots just as you described. I think, Horry just knew how to compete in the playoffs. The Spurs became too soft without those guys.

It hurts watching Goran Dragic in this series. He’s totaled 33 points in five games against the Lakers, but had 26 points in one game against San Antonio.
