Real Madrid is desperate to beat their rivals FC Barcelona next season and as a result the club is preparing to make a big splash in the free agent market.

Florentino Perez is prepared to spend a lot on the club's basketball section this summer and has given head coach Ettore Messina the go ahead to pursue the players he wants.

The main targets of the club this summer are:

Sergio Rodriguez, Vassilis Spanoulis, Milos Teodosic, Alan Anderson, Mike Batiste, and Tiago Splitter. The club is particularly interested in Vassilis Spanoulis and Tiago Splitter.

The club is said to be willing to spend up to 8-10 million euros net on each player in order to secure both Spanoulis and Splitter, because the club believes this would allow them to win the ACB and Euroleague championships next season.

Just in case you are wondering with the current exchange rates and the fact that European contracts are net and NBA contracts are gross as in before and after taxes, and that in European contracts teams pay the agent fees as well, and that NBA contracts don't, and that NBA contracts also deduct the player union fees.................

That means that 10 million euros net is currently (with the current exchange rates) worth about the same as a $25 million NBA contract. So basically, for NBA comparisons, it means Real Madrid would offer Splitter $25 million as an NBA contract would be counted.
