Spurs @ Suns: Gameday Thread #2
Ugly, ugly end to the first half. Not much going our way, but at least we're still in it.

Minor league coach Phil Wellman absolutely exploded after a call a few years ago. This was his finale.

Ocean Sunfish. Mola Mola.
The heaviest known bony fish in the world. It has an average adult weight of 1,000 kg (2,200 lb). The species is native to tropical and temperate waters around the globe. It resembles a fish head with a tail, and its main body is flattened laterally. Sunfish can be as tall as they are long when their dorsal and ventral fins are extended.
Sunfish live on a diet that consists mainly of jellyfish, but because this diet is nutritionally poor, they consume large amounts in order to develop and maintain their great bulk. Females of the species can produce more eggs than any other known vertebrate.1
Adult sunfish are vulnerable to few natural predators, but sea lions, orcas and sharks will consume them. Among humans, sunfish are considered a delicacy in some parts of the world, including Japan, the Korean peninsula and Taiwan, but sale of their flesh is banned in the European Union.2 Sunfish are frequently, though accidentally, caught in gillnets, and are also vulnerable to harm or death from encounters with floating trash, such as plastic bags.
More than 40 species of parasites may reside on the skin and internally, motivating the fish to seek relief in a number of ways.1 15 In temperate regions, drifting kelp fields harbour cleaner wrasses and other fish which remove parasites from the skin of visiting sunfish. In the tropics, the mola will solicit cleaner help from reef fishes. By basking on its side at the surface, the sunfish also allows seabirds to feed on parasites from their skin. Sunfish have been reported to breach more than ten feet above the surface, possibly as another effort to dislodge parasites on the body.
Many areas of sunfish biology remain poorly understood, and various research efforts are underway, including aerial surveys of mola populations,31 satellite surveillance using pop-off satellite tags,3112 genetic analysis of tissue samples,12 and collection of amateur sighting data.32 Recent studies indicate a decrease in sunfish populations that may be caused by more frequent bycatch and the increasing popularity of sunfish in human diet.10

It’s the Suns @ home.
Oh, look, they made a run on the Spurs!
Shocking.
The Suns’ bench hasn’t given them jack (6 pts) and ours has come through with 20 pts. Roger Mason Jr. took a pre-game dip in the Hot Tub Time Machine like I hoped he would and is 4-6 thus far.
Guess what else? Typical Spurs free-throw shooting night; eleven misses for 39%. THAT’S been the difference in the game.
Also, the “Soon-to-Be-Extended” Man With No Swagger hasn’t put his stamp on the game yet. Paul Westphal (a former Suns coach, no less) paid witness to the sleeping giant’s wake-up 3-point barrage in the fourth quarter.
I’ll be worried, when the Suns have a huge lead with five to go in the game.

You take it out of context. There was a question, why we were worrying. I was upset because I didn’t like how the game was played and because I actually hoped that we would win 2nite. My reply was supposed to be sarcastic.
I rarely if ever feel like it is useless to continue playing. The game is 48 minutes (or longer), and that’s how long you should play, winning or losing. I just didn’t like too much what I was seeing, that’s all.
Next season doesn't exist. Only today exists. So say we all.

Is that just me or are we playing much worse with Tony instead of George?
Next season doesn't exist. Only today exists. So say we all.
im not saying that yet. when tony i back to his old self, and we’re still doing poorer than with george, then i’d say trade tony.

I am not saying “trade Tony”. what bothers me the most is that Manu had two pretty pedestrian games in a row after Tony’s return.
Next season doesn't exist. Only today exists. So say we all.
We should keep him playing with the second unit. So that it’s not a travesty when he ignores Manu.

7-14 from the floor
4-9 from 3 pt land
Yeah, I’d say this was a good game for him, shooting-wise.
But I don’t know whether I’d say he’s got his touch back.

Why do the suns still get excited about a regular season win over the Spurs. It won’t mean anything in the playoffs.
we got excited about a win over the Lakers.

Okay that’s just one game. Let’s win the remaining ones.
You shall have no other Manu before me.

This should be an easy recap to write. Third game in four nights (just like @NJ) and all on the road vs a home team that just had three off days. Gee, wonder what happened? Other than that, look no further than the 2nd quarter and the many missed FTs. To think that our team could play so tired and poorly at times yet be FTs away from it being a toss up in the final minutes says good things about us, especially vs PHX. As losses go, not bad.

Finley scored 14 points tonight. We could use those.
Next season doesn't exist. Only today exists. So say we all.
He scored less than that the previous three games combined. I love Fin-dog but he’s no savior. Including for Boston. I’d still rather play Malik who allows less than Finley.

I will never attend another Spurs game third game in four nights and SEGABABA on the road again.
How about that?
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
Totally didn’t realize that it was the tail end of a third game in four nights, all on the road. Wow.
Know what else? The Suns hadn’t played since SATURDAY.
I feel better now. (To be honest, I wasn’t exactly crushed by the loss, nor was I very impressed by the Suns play tonight. They look like a pretty good team, but to me it looks like we have the weapons to beat them in a series)
Crappy teams fear us !
Believe it or not, our last three losses (Suns, Nets, Lakers) have all been third game in fourth night situations, the first two on the SEGABABA of a road trip. So if you want to beat the Spurs catch them when they’re tired from squeezing in a Stern Scheduling Special. Otherwise, it’s your hide.
I can’t wait for the playoffs.

We lost to two sucky teams, the Nets and the Suns. I’m fine with that.
You shall have no other Manu before me.
Interesting that our last game of the season is vs Dallas. I haven’t really looked what other games happen that day, but we might be in the nice position of determining our seed as well as Dallas’ seed with that final game.
IOW, maybe we’ll be able to, for example.. win that game in order to face Denver, or lose that game and face denver.. something interesting like that.
Should be an exciting final four games.
We’ll have to flush that one away. Free throws, turnovers, back-to-back against a rested team, Phoenix dominated in transition, Mason was the leading scorer for most of the game. Not a lot went right. Hopefully they’ll win the last four of the season.
Asked before the game how Parker has looked, Popovich said, "He’s still cute. "
