Spurs - Mavs Predictions Thread
This wait until Sunday is brutal, but I'm just reminding myself that the worse it is for me, the better it is for the Spurs and Hill's ankle. I figure Tim or Davis will post a preview for game one late Saturday or early Sunday, so I thought I would create this post for this twilight zone between the regular season and the playoffs.
Read some of my predictions and share yours after the jump....
I'm thinking the series will be Spurs in 6 and we don't lose a home game.
Two Spurs wins will be by double digits
The Mavs will have one big win and one they steal from us.
(More of a theory than a prediction) Holt called Pop pregame, and said, "bench and Manu and Duncan, the numbers are in, and Mavs games sell the most alcohol of all Spurs games."
Bonner will average more points than RJ, but both will hold their ground defensively.
Blair won't see more than 12 minutes a game.
Mason will be the leading scorer in one of the two losses.
Those are some mine. What do you think?

I can’t find the rookie rebounding records for a playoff game. If he gets 20 boards total or 9 offensive boards, he will be on some of the basketball-reference lists for all players though.
Da BEAST!

That’s thinking like a business man.
I voted RMJ finds his shot because I hope he does, think he can and if he does he’ll average more minutes than Blair.
Do we know the rebound record for a rookie in a playoff game?
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
Robinson, D.Howard, and Shaq are 3 great rebounding bigs that didn’t make the playoffs their rookie year.
Rodman was not much of rebounder early in his career

Robinson won rookie of the year in 1990. We made the semis against Portland that season (darn Rod Strickland).

yes – i thought that sounded strange that we did not make the playoffs David’s rookie year – in fact wasn’t that one of the greatest turnaround years in NBA history?

I think that since the late 80’s, Gooden’s 17 is the best.
Another crazy stat: Samaki Walker (twice) is the only Spur to break 10 rebounds in a playoff game before turning 25. Blair has 4 years to completely own that list. He doesn’t turn 21 until the Thursday after Game 2.
Duncan’s 14 was in 43 minutes. Remember that if Blair breaks it because he’ll do it in 25 or so.
Gooden’s 17 was amazing. Orlando played and lost a seven game series with Detroit (in 02-03), and Gooden averaged 12.7 rebounds per game as a rookie.
Duncan was more impressive because he scored more and had more blocks, assists, and everything else though. Oh yeah, and he won his first series, sweeping PHX without h/c. They then lost to Utah in 5, also without h/c.
