D-TOUR/Loser Combo Thread
There is no Spurs game tonight, but there sure are a heck of a lot of other games, both NBA and NCAA. Ooey-Pooey plays in the Summit League Championship tonight at 8 pm Spurs time (on ESPN2).
Use this thread to talk about any basketball and non-basketball topics that strike your fancy.
The good news for today is that UConn has already lost. Maybe the Lakers will follow the Huskies lead.
Talk away.

Come back Finley!
I am watching the Mil-Bos game. Findog is 2-2 with a 3ptr that touched nothing but twine. After last night, I am ready to cry.
just saw this one.
So how are things now with you? (If you don’t want to, don’t answer. I realise this is a very straight forward question.)
No problem. I decided that I wanted to stay single for awhile after a long relationship with my ex. Also, I wouldn’t want to steal anybody’s gf, y’know. That’s evil >:)

Damn. Orlando is hitting its stride just in time for the playoffs. I wish I can say the same for the Spurs.

Haha, wuuut? I forgot that guy even existed, no offense to the man.

My girlfriend called my favourite radio station and asked them to play my favourite song (dEUS – Roses).
They played it and that was actually a great feeling. I have it as an mp3 file on my computer, but it’s in Dutch, so I won’t matter uploading it…
Nice. So do they have songs in English? And what’s up with the small d but capital E-U-S?

I just watched From Paris With Love. It was weird seeing Danny Zuko from Grease being a badass, killing people. Apart from that, It was a great nonsense movie.
You should watch Alice in Wonderland. The 3-D version, of course. Alice is cute.
by silverandblack_davis on Mar 9, 2010 8:13 PM CST up reply actions
Some friends asked to go see that one, is that actually a remake from that cartoony, 1 hour long movie? ’Cause that was for little children…?
This one is a little bit different. Alice is already 19 and it’s a Tim Burton movie, so it’s darker and some of the characters are more scary than cute. Still, it’s a Disney movie so they kept it child-friendly.

Hah, just got a text message from my girlfriend. She’s ill, and for hours now, it’s been like this:
sleep, throw up, sleep, throw up, sleep, throw up… I’m feeling sorry for her, but glad I’m not there ;)
(She’s out of food in her body, which means she’s now throwing up [gal in Dutch, don’t know the English word.]
Bile.
Give her my condolences.

hah! Not necessary, she has strong legs and a nice ass (I’m sorry, don’t know a more polite or respectful word for ass).
I like those girls a bit full, they don’t need to be slim as they all say they would want to be…
I’m running the LA marathon in a week in a half. Come cheer me on.

Hey, Lauri. Our national team is planning to recruit Dwayne Jones and have him as a naturalized player. Just sharing.

It should probably be the closest thing I will get to the Spurs.
I realize he’s not much of an offensive player but then our team probably doesn’t need one. His rebounding will really help. I don’t know about his defense though.

I hope this is as funny with subtitles as it is in Dutch!
It’s Kabouter Wesley, which means Gnome Wesley. Some guy was working on a serious cartoon project, but when he was tired, he made these over the top short ones. They’re broadcasted every monday evening on a program called Man Bijt Hond, which is the same as Man Bites Dog.
One example with English subs: Mushroom
I’ll have to take a look once I’m at a computer. . . .

How many languages can you speak?
by silverandblack_davis on Mar 9, 2010 8:30 PM CST up reply actions
Dutch is my mother language, I speak good enough English (I think) to communicate, for example on sites like this one. A little bit French from school, and very little German.
Oh. I was wondering if the language in Belgium is “Belgian”. So it’s Dutch, then.
by silverandblack_davis on Mar 9, 2010 8:32 PM CST up reply actions
Oh that’s right, no it’s Dutch actually :)
The northern area in Belgium speaks Dutch, the southern French.
Pardon my interruption but the Belgian versions of Dutch & French spoken in Belgium are named Flemish & Walloon, no? (Never been there. But I did some business with some companies that operate there from France & The Netherlands. Just trying to satisfy my curiosity.)

Oh I was just trying to see if I remembered correctly. Wasn’t trying to correct you or anything.
In school I had just heard of the French & Dutch speaking parts of Belgium. Never realized that there were local versions of each language. So I was surprised when we had to adjust materials used in France for use in the French speaking part of Belgium (and the same for the Dutch part, etc.).

I think I’ll try to slip out at halftime. I have a feeling the housie is working today, and Roberto the Dog is probably convinced he’s starving.

This is amazine! I remember seeing it on television. It’s from a show with set up sketches. (Remember, it is set up, because a lot of foreign people thought this was real.) Really, you must watch this one, you will not be able to stop laughing!! (if it is as funny with subs as it is when you know the language :) )
It should be interesting if the Lakers will lose their 4th in a row.
by silverandblack_davis on Mar 9, 2010 8:39 PM CST up reply actions
I think they will. They’re mad about losing three straight (they should be.), and last game against Toronto, Kobe missed a last second shot to win the game.
Seems like he’s been missing a lot of last second shots lately.

I just want to say that. When I’m bored, I usually surf the web, and PtR has become one of the main sites i browse to. This is a fun community, and I love being here.
Boston up 4 at the end of the third. Bogut is Blairing the Celts front court players though. 19 pts 13 rebs and 2 blocks so far.

He’s been on a tear this season. And they got Salmons, too. ::grumble grumble::
by silverandblack_davis on Mar 9, 2010 8:49 PM CST up reply actions
Pierce versus Salmons. I have 3 games from the Celts – Bulls series from last year, that was amazine.
2nd-best 1st round series ever, next to Spur-Suns series where Duncan hit a three :) (2008 was it?)
by silverandblack_davis on Mar 9, 2010 8:55 PM CST up reply actions
I have that game on my computer too. That one has been watched like 10 times or so.
And I remember watching that game live: I was with my girlfriend in bed, we were both watching. When Duncan scored that, I remember getting up out of bed, freaking out, jumping around naked :p
And I don’t like the attitude, but Rajon Rondo really has become a great player. His progress since they were champions is very good.
I hate his attitude. Did you see him chirping at Bogut after that?
"It's Manuway or the Highway" - tlo
But we can’t deny that he’s become a very good leader and finisher.
I’d still take TP and Hill over Rondo and Nate.
Me, too. As long as TP is healthy.

Just like that, it’s a 2-point game.
by silverandblack_davis on Mar 9, 2010 9:20 PM CST reply actions
Why take a threepointer when you’re up 2 points?!
Look for ray allen for the catch and shoot 3 to win the game now. Or Pierce elbow jumper.
Wow, that’s a good win for the Bucks. But what’s up with Jennings talking to the master of trash talk, KG. I hate those things, why won’t they just play basketball?
and once again, I go to sleep very deep in the night. 4:30 am this time. I’m crazy.
Good night guys.
Yeah, let’s go Kobe!

That’s why it’s extremely important to back up all your data on an external hard-drive. I don’t do it, but you should do it, I mean your hard drive just died.

I agree with the man. You might consider selling part of your mansion to buy a 10-terabyte external hard drive.

Ah…Then back up your data on an external hard drive and encrypt it with Pretty Good Privacy. It’s unbreakable and the government can’t ask you to reveal the password as it would be self-incrimination.

I work for the government if you know what I mean. If you don’t know what I mean, then I’ll just tell you. I’m a spy. But don’t tell anyone, I don’t want to blow my cover.

Noche Latina
Tonight is Noche Latina at the Spurs game, one of three this month for the Spurs and many more around the league in the NBA’s attempt to honor it’s Hispanic fan base (and to sell more merchandise). Manu will most likely give a greeting in Spanish to the fans in SA. Wouldn’t it be a great way to celebrate Noche Latina Month if the the Spurs announced they had given Manu a new three year contract? Or, heck, I’d settle for two years!
Mason
Hope Mason can begin to make his shots, but hope even more that when he’s playing with the second team that he remembers it’s not all about him. He doesn’t distribute the ball well, seeming more intent on his own dribble with little court awareness.
