Oh my ……
Perfect cap to an unperfect season, I guess.
George Hill is gonna need to channel his inner Parker for the rest of the season.
...Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is forty five.
Well, there’s no alternative at this point: we HAVE to rest the croissant.
Guess it’s time to look for a new signature.

MYSA is reporting that its the exact same injury suffered by Bonner earlier in the season. We can expect him to be gone for a month.
Incidentally, that month just might allow Parker to regain his devastating finishing speed. If the Spurs can hold it together, they might be looking at a rejuvenated Parker shortly before the playoffs begin. A healthy big three coupled with George Hill and Debeast ? I wonder what the ceiling is on a healthy Spurs crew. Parker hasnt been right for most of the year. I dont think the Lakers or Denver will exactly be licking their chops should the Spurs come in at the 7 or 8 seed.

So Tony will be out for at least a month and come back to play in the playoffs, which is way more intense than the regular season and during which rough play is more allowed, and he won’t be rusty at all or suffer from not playing the game for a month and be back to his old self?
Sounds good.

Oh I’m relaxed, I’m in the last stage of grief, not giving a fuck I believe it’s called.

Gosh darn it anyway. Course that’s not what came out of my mouth at the time—good thing the kids were in bed already. I’m going to try and stay optimistic.
Does this change who the Spurs pick up for the 13th player?
If the Spurs were in any doubt what kind of player they needed, this makes the decision a hell of a lot easier. I’ll be shocked if the 13th player is anything BUT a point guard.
By the way this news is a terrible and if the season wasn’t already bad enough we’re about to go through our toughest stretch of the year without one of our best players. This sucks, this sucks, this sucks.
Agreed, but there is still a tiny bit of doubt. Mason, Hill, Manu can all share PG duties if we end up getting another big. If Tony is coming back for the playoffs we may be better off working in a big rather than using someone that will be not needed come playoff time.
Of course, if we don’t get a pg there is the possibility that we don’t have to worry about the playoffs :-(.
r21, your right. We are probably done as all get out. But if Parker comes back a little rested, Im hoping we can at least give one of those high seeds a run for their money. No one was expecting a title or deep playoff run anyway. So making the playoffs and winning a couple of games will be some sort of consolation I guess.

Given that the league mandates that teams must have 13 players, and with our PG injured, it makes sense to bring another one in. After all another big man or swingman will just end up riding the pine and that makes no sense.
I just can’t see the positive in this injury. For every step forward this team takes, something seems to make them take two steps back.
I suggested Antonio Daniels in the game thread

I’m not sure AD would want to come back for a pro-rated league minimum contract. He probably doesn’t need the money, and even if he does, he can’t be in game shape.

No head hanging folks! RMJ, glad you’re still on the team and rested so come play like you did early last season when TP was out injured. Your shooting can make up for Tony’s points.
Tony: Rest your legs, heal your hand and be ready for the end of regular season and playoff push.
This team has never approached their ceiling this season but have constantly scraped their floor. Let’s stay hot without Tony, much like Portland did without Roy and LA without Kobe. Then we’ll hit our stride come Tax Day.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.

Just before halftime. He was going for a loose ball & it looked like his weight ended up on his hand awkwardly or something like that. We got the steal & fast break points, it wasn’t worth it, obviously.

Durant for Eva?
I think the entire organization would take that swap in the blink of an eye.
Rest the Croissant!
I am not sure if Tony would be happy with this trade, but I am sure that the rest of us would rather have the Beast on the court than the Beauty in the stands.
We should start rebuilding around Durant
Shit. Harvey is claiming that Parker will be out not four but at least SIX weeks

Six weeks is the standard recovery time quoted for any standard fracture.
Some guys can come back more quickly. (See Terrell Owens’ ankle injury before Philly’s Super Bowl.)
Rest the Croissant!
I see.
Matt Bonner came back in one month ( but I read an article where he said " It wasnt broken all the way through " )
I have not heard if Parkers was a complete or partial fracture…

TP out, ouch!
Losing Tony for over a month is truly bad news, because with games against the likes of Lakers, Cavs, etc., etc. SA will be backed into a corner. What worries me now is that Manu will try to make up for a lack of Parker penetrating drives to the basket by doing more himself. That’s usually how he gets hurt. Other teams will be looking for his drives and punishing him with vicious fouls. That could result in another loss of a top 3 player. Making the playoffs will be very difficult now and the loss of Duncan or Ginobli would end the season and probably drop SA down to 9th or even 10th place. Wow, who would have even given that thought as a possibilty at the beginning of the season. The win over Memphis was big, because the Gris are one of the three teams trying to knock the Spurs out of the playoffs. Portland will soon take over the seventh spot and Houston is threatening too. Scary. P.S. If the Spurs don’t make the playoffs, don’t expect Ginobli to be wearing silver and black next year.
parker will be out BUT we’re still in the hunt…
hill manu and now mason (getting his wish for more mins) will fill the void at pg.
manu is playing great again.
hill’s been solid all year.
and yet another reason we need RJ to step up for us.
this is the time of the year the spurs start to click, as if every game is a playoff a game.
i’m confident in them and OUR team. lets go!!!
The Spurs will either step up or get stepped on. It’s as simple as that.
The already delicate balancing act Coach Pop’s had with keeping Duncan, Ginobili and Dice from playing huge minutes will be more daunting than ever. The Spurs will be facing playoff competition. Heck, they’ll be going up against likely conference champions over the next several weeks. Pop may have no choice but to give his vets major minutes. All the more reason why Malik Hairston—-pick-n-roll defending deficiencies aside—-needs to be given more burn.
And everyone here knows that it’ll only be the Spurs scorching 3-pt shooting will sustain their playoff hopes. Yes. Hill continuing to play out his mind and RJ finally, FINALLY carving a role out on this team will pay dividends too. But it won’t amount to squat, if the Spurs remaining shooters—-Mason Jr. and Bonner—-start delivering donuts and bagels.
I’m optimistic, no matter what cute photoshop images I throw up here. But it’s not w/o some reservation.
...!!
