Fin to sign with Celts
Veteran free agent swingman Michael Finley has decided to join the Boston Celtics and will sign over the next few days, an NBA source told Yahoo! Sports.
Finley is expected to sign the prorated veteran minimum in "the next day or so," the source said.
That didn't take long.

Hey LE, I switched the link since there’s a story about it on Yahoo now. Hope you don’t mind.

We didn’t see much of Finley this season, but he has to be better than Bogans, right? I know Bogans plays better defense, but with the emergence of Hill we could have hid Finley on the defensive end and reaped the benefits of his shooting on the offensive end. I guess we have to trust the Spurs coaching staff here, but I don’t like it. We didn’t get a decent sample size of Finley to correctly give a verdict on whether he is now washed up or not. And the fact that the Celts jumped on him so quickly makes me think he probably does have something left in the tank. Stupid Bogans screws us again.
"GINOBILI!" -- Sir Charles
Fred! Have not heard from you for a while, wondering where you were.
Finley looked a little off the last few times he played, but was probably just rusty. His injury probably screwed us more than Bogans.
My guess is the the Celtics jumped on him quickly as there had already been unprovable discussions ahead of time. Finley is too savvy to ask for a trade without knowing something better is coming up.
I thought the Celtics jumped at the chance because they don’t have a bench.
I smell death... everywhere.
Good point.
Which makes me wonder: is our bench any good this year? I don’t remember us talking about it much at all.

Even more interesting to me is the whisper that Finley was “upset at his lack of playing time and wanted to play for a contender”…
…so he signed with the Celtics, to play behind Pierce and then Daniels. Does that reflect on a potential deteriorated relationship with SA (and if so, why?), or on his personal beliefs about SA still being a “contender?”

Reminds me that I saw Theo play for the ’Cats yesterday. Boy, he was shooting some ugly hooks and short jumpers…
I smell death... everywhere.
We should definitely have kept Theo. But dumped Manu. Makes perfect sense, I don’t know why you’re confused.

The jrw and SiMA exchanges are my favorites. You guys should have your own Chat-Show.

Our own Chat-Show.
SiMA, do you think the two of us are egotistical enough to do a series of pod-casts, and post them with the expectation that PtRers would listen?
We could bring in CMoney once a month and have him give “relationship” advice to the singles. And it would save me the trouble of writing that post I was telling you about. We could just talk about it instead.
Rest the Croissant!
The problem with that is what the hell do we talk about after your several topics and my one topic is breached? Coming up with new and engaging topics on a periodic basis is challenging.

There’s only so much “fire Pop, trade Manu” BS I can bait before it completely plays out.

I guess we could always get into Sports Non-Fiction. All five fans of that genre would appreciate that.

smart move by the celtics. By getting Finley they have acquired the defensive specialist that they can use to guard Lebron James during a seven game series.
GTFOML!
You put it to the test, but I must say the the replacement sarcasmometer came through with flying colors. Woo hoo.
Rest the Croissant!
well I must say mr. jrw, if that’s what you use to test your sarcasmometer all the time, you have a lot of trouble. What I mentioned above was way too obvious, I would hope that that would only be a training ground for you. I am positive that the rest of the crowd at PtR will challenge you enough to test your sarcasm detecting abilities. Mine was way too obvious. You’re still one of my favorites here though, so I hope you don’t beat yourself up.
GTFOML!
coincidentally, Spurs fans dont really mind this move. Its gonna clear even more minutes for Mason. ( I would say George Hill also , but in the last month he has been averaging perhaps the most minutes of any spurs, 36 per game )
Fin can probably still win a Playoff game with a clutch three ball. Its just I dont know what hes thinking. Hes borderline delusional.

As that awesome basketball analyst Clyde Davis says, Findley “could have been a winner but he chose to go with the losers. . . You cannot pay me enough money to be a loser! No way. . .Findley might need that extra money to pay for his tissues and napkins and stuff to wipe those tears away when he gets did in in the playoffs. . .”

Good point. I would only add that one of the 40’s is just about empty.

I don’t think he was originally talking about him but I’m sure my man Clyde would have spelled it that way. Besides, I’ve actually only ever seen his his name spelled FINNNNNNNDDDDDDDDOOOOGGGGGG! or something round here.

Well, atleast he didn’t sign with the Lakers. That’d just be the ultimate middle-finger to the Spurs. Fin’s just over-stepped Perkins as my new favorite Celtic.
It’s a toss up for me; I almost think the ultimate finger would be had he gone to the mavwrecks.
