My attempt at translation:
Jizzle 42 (a basketball player hoping to enter the 2012 draft, so let’s assume he’s a kid) believes that the rap artist Nicki Minaj is really really good. Over spring break, in fact, Jizzle watched her perform the single “My Chick Bad” with Ludacris, and was moved to ecstasy by the spectacle.

It’s easier than dealing with the social studies curriculum set by the Texas SBOE, fer damn sure.

Check back with me in May when the final curriculum is accepted. . . .

Doesn’t California also set the standards? Or does this mean that southern schools will buy the Texas textbooks?
To serve man.
Gustatus similis pullus.
This is just the curriculum for Texas, but textbook publishers will hew to it so they can get the sales in such a big market. California is another big market, but they’re too broke to buy a bunch of new textbooks, so Texas will be the ruler of the roost. And it’s deliberate — Don McLeroy has boasted publicly about this being his big opportunity to get evolution out of schools across the nation.
I have flying monkeys at my disposal, and I'm not afraid to use them.
Another awesome fact about the Texas SBOE: several of the members home school their children. While making top-level decisions about the public school system. Which they disdain to use.
I have flying monkeys at my disposal, and I'm not afraid to use them.
There really should be laws against that sort of thing.

Q: Coach, what have the Lakers been able to do in this third quarter to get back in the game?
A: They made three threes.
Q: And what about Tim Duncan, who only has 6 points, how do you get him more involved?
A: He’s involved. The ball has to go in.

I live in LA and used to be a Lakers fan. I watched Magic and Kareem at the fabulous Forum. Then I began to realize that with all of the advantages the NBA gives the Lakers, they should be in the Finals every year. It is true again this year. The Lakers have an embarrassment of riches with 4-5 players who would be the first or second option on any other team. They should be in the finals every year.
How can your route for a team like that? It is pure vanity. It is because you want to be associated with a winner to make yourself feel good.
If you root for a team that has to have everything go nearly perfect to win a title, when they do they have earned something very special that the Lakers will never know.

by silverandblack_davis on Mar 24, 2010 11:02 PM CDT up reply actions
I know what you’re trying to say but I started to root for this team after Magic retired (i was too young in the Showtime era to understand basketball I was born 1982). If i wanted to be associated with a winner i would’ve supported chicago and Jordan but i stayed with my team who has a great owner and a strong organization.
How is it wrong to have a great owner who surrounds the team with talent to challenge each decade.
please dont talk about the NBA giving us advantage when everyone remembers what happens with Horry hip checking Nash, Bowen and his outrageous defensive tactics etc.
In ending i’m not a glory hunting fan so drop your stupid argument.
anyone want to turn this green?

No, you’re right. Your argument is much better. It’s definitely in the NBA’s best interest to have a small-market team with no “me-first” marketing stars succeed. It’s a simple matter of fiscal wisdom, and clearly it makes far more financial sense for the San Antonio Spurs to get special advantages to succeed.
You do have a great argument though, and I’m on board. Like a lakers fan in a winning year.
