Could someone explain this, I’m confused? Didn’t the Spurs just sign Temple for the rest of the season? Did another team go after him, and they had to sign him? That’s more luxury tax money on someone just to assign him back to the d-league.
I’d imagine someone else went after him. Check out this post from earlier today at RU. And since the news broke, they posted this:
My assumption is that another NBA team decided they wanted Jerrells, but the Spurs didn’t want to lose him, so this whole “we’ll pay you a lot more than we have been to keep playing for our D-League team and learning our system” thing occurred.
Also, since the story at spurs.com didn’t say it, Jerrells was immediately assigned to the Toros. In other words, the Spurs are playing keep away with Jerrells, much like they did with Marcus Williams last season.

Yeah, Timmy needs to go 3-18 against good teams instead of 1-10 and 2-11.

I left this comment on 48MoH: When Jerrells steps into the Toros’ gym, Quin Snyder will say "Welcome back!" and Jerrells will be staring blankly at him.
