I think maybe Sham from Shamsports is the one who said that temple was like a PG very poor version of battier…..I tink we are ok with Cedric, he seems energetic and productive out there

Methinks that the Spurs are auditioning PG’s for next season, since they just picked up two of them. Maybe this means they see George permanently at the 2, or maybe it means they’re planning to move Tony. Either way, it gives me a lump in my throat.

Interesting point.
Also, I think it was you that asked in the game thread why we did not get a big. Really good question as we have more guys around 6-6 than we have minutes for. Granted, we have Ian and are not playing him much, but what if Tim or Dice need more rest?
Any ideas on available bigs that are at least as good as Ian?
Not really. If you look beyond Manu and Hill (who’s like 6’4), you don’t have much. Hairston is the next real guy. Having Cedric and/or Garrett could eliminate the need for Mason ever seeing the floor.
But…. these are 10 day contracts and they could always bring in a big. Although I’m sure Spurs went with best available (on the defensive end) as both of these guys are known for their D.
Well, Temple has ball handling skills. Just because he can play point, doesn’t mean he needs to with his size.
The bio on him from Draft Express
Calling card is D. Great wing span and athleticism. Good bball IQ. I don’t think it necessarily means anything for Parker.
Spurs do need more long guys like Hill. Temple is slightly bigger and has a longer wing span. Can’t hurt to have multiple guys like this, especially since Pop likes to interchange positions with a lot of the longer guys.
Also, since Cedric and Garrett were not on the Toros it’s much harder to evaluate them in your system. These small contracts allow them to do this until they bring them in for the summer (if they like what they got).
I don’t see any long-term planning in those contracts. We have very dense and hard schedule next days, and Pop doesn’t want to overplay Manu and George. Instead, he is looking for some expendable defensive-minded players to buy a few minutes and make a few few stops/fouls against Wade, Carter, Westbrook, Ellis, etc. Hairstone and Mahinmi should play few minutes of defense against the bigs. Jackson and Temple are going to play few minutes of defense against the guards. Mase is going to stay on the bench unless he finds his shooting streak again. Both Jackson and Temple have a very long shot to be in a long-term future of Pop’s team.
We should start rebuilding around Durant
