That last sequence is symptomatic of why so many of us have that love-hate thing with Tony. He’s playing good ball, but right when we need to close out the half with some momentum, he decides that he’s going to do it all himself. Starts the drive way too early, travels, gives the ball back to the Suns with 4.5 left on the clock and they get a three. Fuck, Tony can frustrate the shit out of even the most sympathetic fan.
Well, Tony traveling and Stoudemire hitting 3s aren’t very common occurrences.

Parker: brain fart of the game
So, there is 16 sec left, the game is tied and the ball is in Tony’s hands. He can dribble the half out. He can drive to the basket in last 3 seconds. He can pass it to someone for 3. So we are going to the break up 2, up 3, or at least tied, right? No, not so fast. Parker travels to the rim with 5 seconds left, opening up the opportunity for Amare’s 3. The Spurs are -3 at the half. Exactly the kind of play, which I just despise. Why, Tony, why?

It’s amazing isn’t it, Timmydamus has been practicing playing without having to bend his knees for two years, knowing in advance that the DeJuan Blair will fall to the spurs because he didn’t have ACLs. As one of his last gifts to the Spurs franchise Timmy will give his ACLs to DeBeast, so that a little bit of Tim could continue to live with the Spurs team when he’s gone, and even before he retires. Maybe that’s Pop’s secret weapon for the playoffs, injecting Tim Kness into DeBeast.

Nash gets the inbound pass after a made Spurs FT. dribbles it to the 3 point line, goes in the air, passes to Frye who attempts the shot but time expires.

Wisen up, y'all. Your ignorance is blinding.
The last play wasn’t on Nash, it was on Frye. Frye literally camps out behind the three-point line most games. Nash thought Frye would be in place on the final play and tried to pass it to him, but Frye stupidly kept going to the free-throw line. Frye’s fault.
Our ignorance?

hey, friends, i think its apparent that regardless of whose fault it is, we can all agree that at the end of the game the spurs won. i can proudly say that i never have had to go to an opposing teams site, insult them and then try to explain why we lost.

Did Fry have enough time to shoot the three even if he was behind the three point line? It didn’t seem like it from the replay.

he didnt. Either Nash shoots or passes the ball earlier than he did. Otherwise you have to say that it was “great defense” by the spurs.

So Nash could not see that Frye was 3 feet inside the line? And didn’t know that there was no time for the pass? What a noob! Frye’s position was wrong, no doubt, but I think he was trying to keep his defender off Nash. Even if Frye was behind the line, the pass was late. And Frye was never the league MVP. So this play was totally on Nash. He had the ball in his hands, and just brain farted.
Bonner somehow found a way to suck at defense while only being on the court for 7 seconds.
-2
GTFOML!
Hairston was 9 in 1 minute of play. :/
Spurs Basketball. Improving [other] NBA teams since 2010! - swgeek
yeah, but Hairston was in there for defensive plays. If Pop’s gonna play Bonner on individual plays, I’d want Bonner to at least have a 3 point attempt. I don’t understand why he was on for seven seconds.
fun with numbers:
Hairston: -9 in 38 seconds
that makes him -.237 per second
Bonner: -2 in 7 seconds
that makes him -.286 per second.
Rouge fail.

by the little o on Feb 28, 2010 3:02 PM CST up reply actions
Bonner was only there for 1 defensive play. It may look very strange for the rest of us, but evidently Pop is thinking that Bonner is some sort of defensive stopper.
It did not make any sense when he went into the game
"If an expert says it can't be done, get another expert"

I’m okay with Bonner getting in the game for some offensive plays, but 1 defensive play? Really? Maybe Pop just somehow has this shallow hal type jinx on him where he sees David Robinson whenever he stares at Bonner.

(Ir)Regardless of the lucky breaks today, great win.
I’m waiting as usual to see a little bit of consistency, like maybe winning the next 4/5 with similar good numbers by our big players, before I get my hopes up that this is any kind of corner turned.
But it’s a beautiful day today, happy I got to see the 4th Q and the win.
Going disc golfing now.
Have a great day all!
Well,
that sucked from our side. But it was a hell of a game nonetheless. I wish it hadn’t come down to Jason Richardson screwing up on a national stage again, but c’est la vie.
I know Jefferson and Co. have been struggling lately, but it was definitely the balanced play of the Spurs that got them the win today. Not that the Big Three had bad games or anything; far from it. But in a game where the Suns actually played some decent defense and denied Duncan/Manu/Parker from going off, RJ, Hill and Blair stepped up pretty big in some key stretches.
Dunno if this is what gets the Spurs going again, but it certainly can’t hurt. For me, the Suns still played pretty well in what was essentially a coin-flip game (re: Hipuks stats up above) on the road, so this isn’t too tough a loss to take. In my head, I’ll replay the Amare dunk and the Nash three at the end and pretend Richardson was off buying concessions at the minute mark of the fourth.
Oh, and don’t pay too much heed to the unfortunate, select group of Suns fans who talked about punking TD or Tony. They’re still bitter about the whole Horry thing.
This horrid pick and roll defense is getting old quick though. After watching Boozer-Williams shred us with it for four games this season, you’d think Pop would come up with an answer for it. It’s was just sickening watching them run the same play over and over, while the Spurs just looked on dumbfounded.
Okay, cool. I think I’ll go play NBA2K first. Thanks.
