Thunder @ Spurs: Preview and Early Game Thread

Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs, Feb 24, 2010 7:30 PM CST

Check out Welcome to Loud City for the OKC perspective on this game.

Durantula and the Zombie Sonics come to San Antonio tonight.  Is it safe to assume that everyone here knows how much trouble the Spurs have had with this Thunder team the last couple of years?  I thought so.

Star-divide

In addition, the Thunder are well ahead of us in the standings, and were the hottest team in the league prior to losing a tough one in Phoenix last night.  They're a team that believes in themselves, and they play old-fashioned tough defense, like the Spurs used to.  I'm not getting good vibes from this game, to say the least.  Last time, it took Manu and RJ to save us in the closing seconds of overtime, after DeJuan Blair dominated the game with his best performance of the season... this time, I just hope we can get that chance.

Possible Starters

Spurs Position Other Team
Tony Parker(?) PG Russell Westbrook
George Hill SG Thabo Sefolosha
Keith Bogans SF Kevin Durant
Tim Duncan PF Jeff Green
Matt Bonner C Nenad Krstic

Officials

Greg Willard Tony Brown John Goble

It was a sad realization yesterday that I looked up at a tv screen at a pizza parlor and the top 6 teams in the west were displayed. My first thought was, “Where are my Spurs?” My next was, “Oh…”

Let’s do this tonight. We need this win as much as any other of the season.

Maybe the Denver game started the circumstance of beating winning teams and losing to poor teams. Tonight will confirm or negate this theory.

Hey I know it is not that important to the Spurs, but Memphis is playing at Washington tonight. And if you mash-up their names a bit you could say the Grizzards are playing the Wizzlies. (Just struck me as amusing.)

This should clear things up:

Sachin Tendulkar created history with the first double century in one-day internationals as India thrashed South Africa by 153 runs in Gwalior.

The 36-year-old hit 25 fours and three sixes in an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls.

It passed the previous best of 194, set by Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar in 1997 and Zimbabwe’s Charles Coventry last year.

Mahendra Dhoni hit four sixes in 68 from 35 balls in a mammoth 401-3, and South Africa were 248 all out as India took an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

I’d love the Defensive Powerhouse Spurs to be the team that puts an end to Durant’s crazy streak of 25pt games (2nd only to Jordan). But I don’t see it happening. Not just because our D sucks, but he’s coming off of 36 vs phx and 32 vs Minnesota. This kid is nuts!

Screw it if we’re not going to stop him, I’m rooting for him to beat Jordan’s record. He’ll be at 30 after tonight. Jordan’s record is 40.

Boarfishes are a small family, Caproidae, of marine fishes comprising two genera and twelve species. They are usually placed in the order Zeiformes with the dories, but this placement is uncertain, since boarfishes have many perciform characters, for instance in the caudal skeleton. Boarfishes are native to the Indian, Atlantic, and Pacific Oceans.

Like other zeiform fishes, boarfishes have deep and thin bodies. Boarfishes are generally small, with only a few species known to reach a maximum total length of 30 centimeters (12 inches). Coloration is usually red or pink.

The earliest identified caproid fossils date to the middle Oligocene epoch of the middle Tertiary period, or roughly 20 to 30 million years ago.

We actually scored more in the 4th than any other Q. I don’t remember the last time this was the case.

I don’t think we can put too much into this. I mean this was obviously an important game for us, and we (Ginobili) showed a lot of heart to pull off the win in the last crucial couple minutes. But OKC was coming off a back to back.
