Tony Parker update

The Spurs say:

Earlier today, Tony Parker was examined by Spurs team physicians. An MRI performed during the exam showed that Parker has a mild strain of his left iliopsoas.

Parker is listed as day-to-day.

Sounds ominous.

I was thinking it was time for some dramatic chipmunk.

BTW, this basically is the injury we already knew he had: A strained hip flexor.

Yeah, and from what I know, iliopsoas is a group of like 3 or 4 muscles hip flexor muscles, so all we have now is a bit more specific info that doesn’t change anything. Tony needs some recovery time.

As selected by Robbie Robertson?

Tony needs to take as much time as he needs to get his body right and when he gets back just shred the shit out of defenses.

I wonder what would happen if Pop forbids international play for Tony this summer? Would Tony get pissed off enough to really screw up morale?

after taking a giant step back and looking at this season as a whole, i wonder how much better this spurs team could be if tony were healthy and performing at his peak level (think 2007 playoffs, think much of 2008 season, think 55 vs, Minne and that run of games, etc).

spurs would be in much better shape than they are right now.

by bones on Feb 23, 2010 8:03 AM CST up reply actions

I’d say (and I don’t want to over-analyze things) that more points from Tony would be better for the team than less points.

Hope that wasn’t too deep.

agreed. i starting thinking about it – and if he were right this year, a bunch of us might not be whining so loudly.

more opportunities for manu……to turn the ball over!

by FreshmakerDTM on Feb 22, 2010 3:34 PM CST reply actions

Or more opportunities for Manu to go on a personal 12 – 0 run and put us back in the game.

by janieannie on Feb 22, 2010 3:36 PM CST up reply actions

the problem is the “back” part. We should never be out of contention

i love manu as much as the next ptr guy, but his turnovers are killer for the spurs and my fantasy team. but yes, you don’t have to tell me he does more positives than negatives when he steps on the court…

That may have been just enough to keep you off of “the list.”

We sure missed TP in the overtime last night. That was some brutal offense.

You know when Parker’s game just started totally going to shit? Right after he fucking laughed at my car.

Hilariously maladjusted. But for all the right reasons.

The last good game we played was without Tony at Denver. It would be great to have recorded it and take another look at a good flowing offense and defense. That game was alot of fun.Pop started Hill, Mason, Dice, RJ and Tim. In that game, it seems like we did so many things right.

by indiancharlie on Feb 22, 2010 8:26 PM CST reply actions

I’m so glad that the one game I’ve attended this year was that one. It gave me hope – hope that’s now been smushed into a tight little ball and surrounded with (sports) despair.

But it also sounds like it still lives.

Of course, and (sports) despair is nothing like “real” despair. Plus, that was the game to attend this year. Nuggies fans didn’t know what hit them.

Maybe we can recorded and start playing it if we all have that familiar by the time the second half thread comes up. We can just have another open thread on the second half of the Denver game.
