The one game I don't watch...

Being up here in Spokane, WA, watching Spurs games is a rare treat, or more appropriately, a rare disappointment as of late. Before this game, I had pretty much watched every game and hadn’t seen a nationally televised victory until tonight (I watched the tail-end of the game against New Orleans at the beginning of the season). Now of course I didn’t watch the game because I thought I would become depressed afterwards….and what happens???? THE SPURS WIN CONVINCINGLY!!!!!!

I honestly don’t know what to make of it. Were the Spurs just so pissed and upset with their play that they came out and PLAYED????

Or could there be a deeper reason? Tony Parker perhaps?? I’m not suggesting trade Tony Parker but the fact remains that in several games Parker has missed, the Spurs have played better. What do you guys think?

Or have I just been the root cause of the Spurs’ misfortunes? = (

by The Augustus on Feb 12, 2010 1:22 AM CST reply actions

No, it must be me. I missed this game as well.

by Kondor on Feb 12, 2010 1:25 AM CST up reply actions

There are rumors that Duncan called a team meeting the morning after the Lakers game debacle. If Timmy decided to be a motivator, perhaps that has something to do with the fact that the team looked like it had a sense of purpose tonight.

Don't compare RJ to Sean unless he's coming up clutch while playing with a failing kidney.

by Tim C. on Feb 12, 2010 1:25 AM CST up reply actions

Doug Collins pointed out a couple times how Tim was being vocal on defense, telling people where to go and such. Doug did the Portland game and a couple other recent ones, sounded like he noticed a real difference in this area.

by doggydogworld on Feb 12, 2010 8:26 AM CST up reply actions

Don’t just look at the boxscore, watch the replay if you can. They brought two things sorely missing the past coulple of games – effort and focus. And I mean team effort and team focus. The whole team brought it.

by TD21 on Feb 12, 2010 1:34 AM CST up reply actions

RJ was even fighting for rebounds.

And more importantly, getting them.

I think eels are just grand. . . .

in theory.

I’m trying to get past the trauma induced by the horrific eel-catching, -eating, and -regurgitating scenes in The Tin Drum. Günter Grass has a lot to answer for. And I was far too young when I read that book.

Seriously, just the word “eel” causes an instant, visceral reaction.

i really hope the team can take some momentum now into the all star break
still, absolutely can’t afford to lose any of the games after the break against the eastern teams, otherwise, a win like this is a waste
i wonder how big of a different kenyon martin would have made, though they beat dallas by 36 without him

by dtra33 on Feb 12, 2010 1:33 AM CST reply actions

Sucks that we get five days between games after the biggest win thus far. I do not want the momentum that just began to disappear over the break.

by dtra33 on Feb 12, 2010 1:39 AM CST up reply actions

If we were ever going to build any momentum during the trip, it would have to be here. We play the Pacers, Sixers, & Pistons next, and we have a spectacular record against the teams at the bottom of the bucket.

by Manu ex Machina on Feb 12, 2010 1:44 AM CST up reply actions

This being the Spurs, I think we can safely say after this win, we’re due for a massive letdown, before winning another game, another letdown, and then winning a good game.
This way, it will be absolutely impossible to judge this team, as it has been all year long.

I didn’t watch or follow. I chose to enjoy NBC comedy so I wouldn’t have yet another night feel wasted with sloppy basketball and wasted opportunities. I go to check the final score and had my basketball feeling in weeks. After the ASB, let’s keep it going.

I guess Pop can coach after all.

I’m pretty sure that what he’s saying is: We blew out a winning team, and that was nice, but what I need to see is Pop winning a close game against a winning team with this roster.

Manu with another between-the-defender’s-legs bounce pass for a TD lay-in – sweet! Who was it who wants to trade Manu?
