The season is over. There will be no championship. Not this year or any time soon. We will be lucky if we don't get embarrassed in the first round. Again.
What's worse? The coming draft brings no savior. There will be no first-round franchise changer.
Now we can watch Manu and DeJuan, merely for the pleasure, run the pick and roll like the beauty and beast they are. We can enjoy Tim scoring off the glass, rebounding, and anchoring our defense with a cold, boring efficiency.
We don't have to curse Tony for spending his summer banging against middling Europeans. We no longer have to burry our heads in our hands every time Richard Jefferson clanks a wide open jump shot, misses a defensive assignment, or pouts.
No. There is nothing now to keep us from watching Spurs basketball and enjoying it for what it is: basketball.
I propose that we spend the next half of the season as giddy fans excited just to be here.
Let's hope guiltlessly and allow ourselves to believe the Denver game was not the end of our season, but the beginning.
Enjoy the All Star break PtR!!!

If you can do that and be ok with it then thats fine. But me? I would have to hurt myself. I already enjoy some of the great play by each of these players and love to watch it as just basketball but
1) I can’t give up on this team. I’m too stubborn and I want to see them succeed
2) Their ceiling is an NBA championship. To expect anything less would be to do them and myself a disservice.
So because I love basketball I will appreciate the last years of Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili but I refuse to give them an out and expect anything less than them winning championship.
