Nothing against Quinn but don’t you wish it was Temple out their playing point for the garbage minutes instead.
Speaking of Temple is he still playing for the Toros?
Only caught the last 4 minutes of the game so I don’t have much else to comment on.
Temple has actually never played for the Toros. He is back with Rio Grande, where the Spurs had picked him up from. His first 3 games he averaged only 8 points and 2 assists; but in tonight’s game against New Mexico he wound up with 16 pts, 7 assists, 8 rebounds and 3 turnovers.
Why are we using the hobbit instead? To raise our cultural diversity?

Quinn has an excellent career assist/turnover ratio, doesn’t make many turnovers. Temple on the other hand, has more career turnovers than assists. Temple might be a project, but what year would he ever become a regular considering who we already have? Quinn is a low-paid veteran, and I believe there is some financial assistance the league gives to pay such veterans.
Quinn doesnt have many turnovers because he picks up his dribble and waits for another player to receive the ball and do something with it.
What I do like about the hobbit is his 3 point stroke. He can really nail it, while temple is mediocre at best.
"Rock and Roll angels bring that HardRock Hallelujah"
If Quinns the answer I dispute the question.

The tough thing is Hill basically makes Temple not as appealing to work on as a project. It’s going to be tough for Temple to have gotten time since his PG skills aren’t much better than Hill’s. They are basically even and the upside isn’t there for the cost.
Quinn is slow and steady, but has a nice jump shot. Spurs have focused on making their team more dynamic. Now they are. I’d prefer Temple though, but I can see what the Spurs are doing from a scoring perspective.
I actually liked Temple a lot. He played well when he was inserted in the starting lineup. He played decent in garbage time. Now we don’t have any game in garbage time. There are players, but they don’t play as a team. They cannot hold on a 30-point lead, and Pop needs to reinsert likes of Hill and RJ to assure the victory. Maybe when JA is back, we would have the depth we need for a garbage time.

Good win. Things got a little messy at the end, but good triumphs once more. Just a little ticked that Tiago isn’t getting rewarded on his screen-and-rolls. Did George Hill hit him up for, well, anything? I just don’t understand why the second unit doesn’t give Tiago a chance to set-up on the block; especially, if he’s being guarded by Amundson.

That’s the work of the coach, Pop should insist on the bench players getting the ball down low to Tiago. Dude can score and pass.

Ginóbili is The Anomaly. A ‘quiet’ 12 points, a so-so 4-11 from the field… and a team-leading +21 in the all-important ± statistic. In less than 28 minutes.
Duncan was needed for only 18 minutes. Dice got to rest all game. More of that please.
Nice to see both Splitter and Blair able to play well in the same game. Nice game for Hill, but I agree I’d like him to play the two-man game with Tiago more…

He is like Mason but with a conscience, a floater, better court vission, defenseX4….and a better outside shot.
"Rock and Roll angels bring that HardRock Hallelujah"
First year Roger Mason Jr was a really good player. Better than Neal is. He just fell off so hard in year two.
Neal does have the floater down at least. I don’t think Mason ever got down any form of a lay-up.
RMJ impressed people with several game-winners, the best of all against the Suns on the Christmas Day, but overall Neal seems to be better player. And he looks bigger to me. Hopefully, he is not going to start whining about playing time anytime soon.

Solid win tonight. A few things I was thinking during the game:
- George Hill and Tony might be the quickest guys in the league on the run and they’re on the same team. Not fair for the rest of the league.
- Tiago > Bonner
- This win was entirely with out McDyess who in my opinion is the Spurs second most valuable big on the team. Yikes.
*Blair brought his B+ game tonight. - Manu passes from the coolest angles

Tiago moves well, finds open spots, never crowds the paint when someone is driving but still manages to be in good offensive rebounding position. He’s not a liability on offense the way Bonner is on defense.
"It's Manuway or the Highway" - tlo
Bonner had 2 blocks. AND he hasnt been a liability at any point in time this year.

never crowds the paint
He just got called for offensive 3 seconds tonight prompting the comment (by Elliott?) that he needs to know, how to get out of the way. Bonner’s D is meanwhile getting decent.

Nearly every game, Splitter has been called for a 3 second, if he played more than 2-3 minutes. Tiago > Bonner isn’t true. It’s really dependent on who is on the court.

Damn, nice play for the Jordan dunk. Clips had a foul to give. Lakers ball, Clips up 1, 3.1 seconds left.
Free Tiago Splitter!
When you let Derek Fisher get from almost midcourt to the rim for an easy layup in 3.1 seconds, your defense is freaking terrible.
Free Tiago Splitter!
I only was watching the game cast so I couldn’t see the actual game.
That is freaking terrible though. That would be as bad as giving Bonner a dunk.

The Dubs starters with Lee is the only lineup that works for them, so when they get beat by 11 to start the game and 6 to start the third they don’t have much hope.
Reggie Williams going 8-10 from three was the only thing keeping it from being a true blowout, but the turnover-plagued Warriors played right into the plans of the fast-breaking Spurs.

In the past I’ve had a tendency to get mixed up between former d-leaguers Reggie William and Marcus Williams (Spurs/Toros); as well as the other Marcus Williams who plays for Memphis.
The former Spur Marcus Williams (picked in the 2007 draft 5 picks after Tiago) played part of last season overseas (China?) prior to joining the Toros, where he averaged over 24 points a game for 8 games. From what I recall he was picked because of his defense. I’m not sure what he is doing this year, I would guess he is overseas somewhere.
Is Williams the most common name in the US, or is it some secret Stern’s instruction that every NBE team should have at least one Williams? I know names of almost every NBA player who gets any minutes, but I am confused by the sheer numbers of Williamses. I want more players named Iugodala or Harangody, even though I am not sure I can spell those names.
"Ginobili’s play grants the Spurs real, transformational power" - NY Times, Dec 2010
I can imagine this going on during the game:
Manu walks up to Wright at tip-off and says: “those bracelets are just a placebo”. Wright responds “that’s why I wear two sets”. Having confidence in his powers, Wright hits his first 3 point shot. He then misses a couple, and steps out of bounds on a third. After telling himself over and over “I think I can, I think I can” he hits a second 3 pointer before the quarter ends.
Wright misses his first shot of the 2nd quarter. Gary Neal comes in and snaps Wright’s blue bracelets. Wright is so flustered, he can not even get off a shot the next 4 minutes, and then he finally misses. Time out is called, and Wright looks at his gold bracelets and says “come on guys, we can do this”. He makes his next two shots, so Neal goes over and snaps his gold bracelets. Wright misses his next 6 shots while committing 3 turnovers before he finally makes a layup with 2:16 remaining in the game.
Or something like that.
