"I cry,but everyone will cry if I'm in the NBA"-Adam Morrison.I know now why fans cry when they see him on the floor.
SA,where any guy can just step up,a true epitome of team basketball…unlike other eastern teams, their “stars” must be jealous of TD resting and knowing that 2 of the real big three will step up and they got a kick ass bench to help them…ah San Antonio, no wonder why stern hates you.And this team always figure ways or even them is amazed on how the hell they win.

Funny thing about our thinking that Stern hates us… over at Denver Stiffs, they’re convinced that Stern loves us. GOL

I still can’t believe we won after so many bonehead plays. Although it’s not that unbelievable…But still. I’m still shaking my head at that alley-oop attempt.
He's Manu Ginobili
That was the difference in regulation. The pass wasn’t that good and RJ wasn’t that prepared for it. Goes with the night.
I guess I’m just pissed because we could’ve avoided OT if we had secured that point. Any rest would be good what with the coming stretch.
Then again, given the way they were playing, somebody else would’ve found a way to give up the lead.
But as ugly as it was, I’ll take the win. :D

Yup. This is why I was so sad and upset when we lost control of it and let it go to overtime. Wasted opportunity to get our guys a little more rest. Still I’m happy we pulled off the win in OT; I wasn’t feeling it.
Actually this specific alley oop fail, I was cheering and yelling with happiness, because from my the crappy feed through my phone, I didn’t see that he had missed. I heard the announcers talking about the highlight reel and was thinking, Hell yeah!, only to realize seconds later when the score still hadn’t changed, Oh, he missed.
The ability of this team to overcome its mistakes is one of the more compelling stories about them.

When things were going rough about 5 mins left in the 4th and we had a sucky lineup that had absolutely no flow in the offense, it was incredible to see Pop fielding Manu, Tony, Tim, RJ, and Dice out of the timeout. It was like saying, “So yeah, we’ve been shitty. Now let’s see you beat these guys.”
I can’t describe exactly how I felt at that moment. It wasn’t a shiver. Probably just my subconscious recognizing that, “Damn. We’ve got a kickass team.”

+infinity. I didn’t get to see that part of the game tonight, but there have been several times when I thought to myself that Pop’s Spurs 2.0 are scary good. And that’s without &erson, and before Splitter is fully integrated into the rotation… and with the Spurs often seeming to play in second or third gear.
If the Spurs can figure out how to stay in overdrive for a full 48 in the playoffs, I think we’ll all be very happy. It’s really on them, they have the talent and chemistry to decide their own fate.

I can’t believe we’ve escaped the last three games with wins. This bad play is gonna catch up to us real soon.
I'm comfortable winning -- Emmanuel Ginobili
It shows how good of a team the spurs are. Even when we play like crap and hand the other teams every chance to win it we come up with just enough effort and smarts to win it.. That being said, my heart needs a rest
"Rock and Roll angels bring that HardRock Hallelujah"
I think that it can be interpreted that way, but luck plays such a huge role in these close games. What if the refs had called manu for a travel vs the bucks. What if they hadn’t called the charge against Carmelo?
We have to stop leaving the outcome in the hands of lady luck and crush some people.
I'm comfortable winning -- Emmanuel Ginobili
Luck will always exist. Heck, a few different plays going another way could have mean the Spurs have 1 to 2 more championships.
Don’t forget to the credit the opponent and the circumstance. Teams have a very low in percentage when playing the second game of a back to back in Denver. That the Spurs were in position to win, that they were up nine in the 4th Q, speaks well of them. Playing tonight against a young and big Memphis team that was not going to play as poorly as their previous game was never going to be easy, especially with the Spurs playing their third in four days.
Though it’s frustrating to have each game be so close, it’s not as though they’ve been trailing all game in the past three while running the star players into the ground trying to come back. If anything Pop is playing the full bench and allowing everyone to contribute. That might make some of the games closer than we’d prefer but it is limiting minutes more than recent seasons plus keeping all bench players involved.
Thank you SF Giants for an incredible 2010 season and painting the City orange & black!
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
I vow to never mention "playoffs" and "49ers" together again until we have a "quarterback."

They do have quite a bit of tuning up to do. Ball movement, smarter decisions, rotations on defense, etc. Despite their record, the Spurs have more than plenty to work on.
But they have proven that they can win in any situation and that a variety of players can step up and take charge, not just the big three.
This experience and confidence will pay off big for the younger players in the post-season.
"We suck on 'D. Both individually and team-wise, we suck. We're pretty consistent that way. I don't know if I have an answer to that. If I did, we wouldn't suck quite so bad." - Popovich

True. But sometimes I look at it as a kind of statistical game. The Spurs and Grizzlies were dead even in terms of made FTs and two-point shots. The margin of victory was the additional two made triples.

These trades the Magic made, make no sense to me. Are they trying to get out of paying so much tax? I like getting rid of Carter, but I wouldn’t have taken Turkishglue back.
Turkoglu was a good player for the Magic before. J.Rich is an upgrade over Carter imho. Arenas is an upgrade over Lewis, scoring-wise… the trick is to hide him on defense, keep him from making bone-headed decisions, and ride him when he’s hot.
Even though Hollinger’s system projects them winning 7 fewer games over a season, I think it’s a good trade for them. I certainly think they’ll be a tougher opponent later this month than when the Spurs played them last time.

I’m pretty clueless to the magic’s roster, honestly. I forgot about that Bass kid. He’s rather talented. I say arenas off of the bench (I feel like I’m the only person in the world that likes him…)
can't forget Matty, if you did you'd feel gyped

I think its going to be a surprise for everyone: I see Ryan anderson starting. He is like Rashard Lewis but he is shooting a lot better and can really rebound the ball.
Quentin and NElson remain in the starting lineup and probably Jason Richardson is the starting SG.
That would leave the Magic with a starting 5 of:
1-Nelson
2-J. Richardson
3-Q. Richardson
4-Anderson
5-Howard
Bass will backup both bigs positions, arenas is going to be the bench scorer and backup PG, and Turkeyglue and Redick are the other guys off the bench.
I like the trade for Orlando A LOT. If there’s one guy who can make this roster work that is Stan Van Gundy. They have a hell of a top 9 rotation, and their other guys Chris Duhon and Jason Williams (two decent backup PGs, maybe they can get one “6-fouls-big” in a trade for one of them)
The magic were lacking guys who could create for them and others, and they got 2 of them (Arenas and Turkoglu) for the price of some redundant backups and they even managed to switch Carter for a better player and a better fit in Jason Richardson
"Rock and Roll angels bring that HardRock Hallelujah"
Yeah I think this at first look seems like a hell of a win for Orlando.
I always thought it was a big mistake for them to get rid of Turkoglu for Carter after they came up just short of beating the Lakers for the Championship two years ago.
Turkoglu may not be as good as he was for them two years ago. But the addition of Arenas and Richardson gives them some real instant offense, which was their biggest need.
I actually thought Carmello Anthony would have been a great get for them. But this overall might be better.
Enh desperation is a stinky stinky cologne. And this is a desperate move – going back to the known quantity of Turkoglu and trading your collapsed star for a fresh talent in Richardson.
The problem is Orlando isn’t getting what they think they’re getting. Turkoglu is older than they remember and more of a defensive weakness. Richardson is coming off his best years in the Phoenix offense, and when you buy a piece of the Suns offense (Marion, Joe Johnson, Barbosa) you never get the same production. The Suns is the perfect offensive situation for most players apparently.
And Arenas? Who knows. All three are a gamble of sorts.
They’re shipping out their depth (Gortat) defense (Pietrus) and Lewis, one of the guys who made this work back when this mess worked. I understand Rashard Lewis wasn’t likely to have a great season, but I don’t know if Ryan Anderson brings what Lewis brought when he was good, either.
Yeah I guess I was thinking too much about what they gained vs what they gave up. Lewis, meh. But Pietrus is good, and I always liked Gortat.
Definite a big gamble for them. If Arenas can return to form and some how thrive with his new team, it could work out to a net plus. But thinking as a Spurs fan, you have to always consider how much work it will take to get all the players to gel. Even if they do manage to work that out eventually, I find it hard to imagine them getting by Boston at least, and maybe the next few down the ladder as well.
It may still be a net positive, if they have the discipline to stick with it for say a year. But with this big gamble collection of guys, we will see.
It looks impressive on paper (and comment box too) but I dont see them integrating these parts in time to bother Boston, and maybe not even Miami or Chicago.
What they had last season functioning at its best wasnt nearly enough to take Boston, so I doubt this is what puts them over the top.

The funny thing about the Parker 8 second violation, I was watching it as it happened, and saw him step across the line as the clock hit 16, and I thought, “Good, he just barely made it”. The next instant they called it.
To my surprise they didn’t show a replay to see if it was accurate or not. Looked like he might have still had one foot in the backcourt, but I wasn’t sure without a replay. Still, real close one to make a potential game deciding decision on. (Fortunately for us the Griz threw it away and we got it right back, or we might have a very different Quickcap going here.)
But when this happened my thoughts went back to that crucial playoff game (I don’t remember specifically) when Parker made this same mistake going into one of the final plays of the game, a couple years ago. Anyone else remember this?
Tony seemed understandably a little tired by the end of this one. When he gets tired he’s more likely to make little mental mistakes like this.
Still, hell of a game for the man.
Dammit I thought I was close.. didn’t even reach a hundred.

I can’t be too hard on our guys. The THIGAFINI acronym has to be thought about in full: a third game in four nights is no easy task, especially when the previous two came down to the end. Add that the Sixth Man of the Year candidate missed the game and it became more difficult. Memphis is a good team with size and young legs that defeated our guys twice last season. They’ve beaten the Lakers and Heat. They embarrassed themselves the night before and were going to play better.
RJ finishing his alley-oop dunk would’ve kept us from OT. So would’ve our guys not getting stagnant at the end of the 2nd Q and early 4th. But I’m impressed that they finished strong in the late 4th and won the OT period without much difficulty. They certainly did well pushing through difficult moments and tired legs for the second consecutive game.
Thank you SF Giants for an incredible 2010 season and painting the City orange & black!
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
I vow to never mention "playoffs" and "49ers" together again until we have a "quarterback."

Hey, if posting a sharp, insightful, yet non-sarcastic comment were that easy, even olf would do it.
