Heck yeah, entertaining couple of games lately!

I’ve been watching with NBA league pass Mobile, which actually worked pretty well these last two games after disaster for the phoenix game. So I may have changed my mind about it, if it continues to work.

So I’m unable to post much during the games, but I got my one post in near the end to get on the roll call! Great to see so many on here posting and having fun. Of course it helps when we have Neal shooting like he is, and a player by the name of Ginobili!!! On our team.

Scary moment at the end of this one (I had wondered why Pop took Tim out there), but Manu was there to Bail us out again.

Let’s keep the wins coming, while our new guys continue to mprove on D.

Yeah, I do. Got a gig in downtown SA in a couple hours, actually.

by DrumsInTheDeep on Nov 8, 2010 8:47 PM CST up reply actions

what style do you play?.. I’ve played SA quite a few times… GREAT rock town!

by In the 666 on Nov 8, 2010 8:48 PM CST up reply actions

The band I’m in now is kind of Hendrix-blues style. But most “rock” bands here are actually metal…

by DrumsInTheDeep on Nov 8, 2010 8:49 PM CST up reply actions

very true, it is a metal town (just didn’t want to say it as “metal” is, believe it or not, a relative term… you wanna give up the name of the band you’re in?.. i support local bands big time. I’ve busted my ass for way too many years not to. Have a good show by the way.

by In the 666 on Nov 8, 2010 8:53 PM CST up reply actions

Aw, thanks. We go by Whitecotton, since that’s the frontman’s last name. Having played around DFW the last five years, this is still better.

by DrumsInTheDeep on Nov 8, 2010 8:55 PM CST up reply actions

DFW’s kind of a weird place to play, ya know, toadies and all that… If you want, can you send me a link to a band page or something? I’m a sucker for new music. anything new is good…. you happy with what you’re playing? I know that sometimes people play in things that may not fit exactly what they want to be doing… (I’ve done it before) you’d be surprised at what people will put up with and can get used to when they’re forced to…
Great last name too… “Whitecotton”…. wow…

I’ve been paying attention to them. I think Monta is leading the league in scoring, so far. But he left tonight’s game with a back injury, according to ESPN mobile alert. He’s got a string of bad mopeds injuries.

Celtics. I pulled for them in the Finals in 08, and last year. Bastards pissed that game 7 away.

by Ed (dfjmed) on Nov 8, 2010 9:11 PM CST up reply actions

I agree with Tim C. I always root against the Mavs, unless they play the Lakers.

by Marky G on Nov 8, 2010 9:12 PM CST up reply actions

Depends. Especially in the playoffs. Here’s who I root for:

1st: Spurs.
2nd: Anyone, anytime, playing the Lakers.
3rd: Any team that eliminates the Spurs from the playoffs. (If they beat us, they should win it all. Right?).
4th: Any Western Conference team other than the Lakers in the Finals.

Thus, I only root for the Celtics if they are playing the Lakers, and I only root for the Mavs if they beat us or advanced past us and are playing in the Finals. During the regular season I only care about the Spurs. Thank you for your time. Oh, and I’m starting to feel the same way about the Heat as I do the Lakers.

by richbruiser on Nov 8, 2010 9:22 PM CST up reply actions

Spot on Rooting Hierarchy, with one disagreement:

I can never root for Dallas after what happened in ‘06. I mean we should have had that and been on our way to a threepeat.. but I digress. Point is, if Dallas ever made it to the finals again (not likely), I’d have to root for the East.

And don’t tell anyone but I root for Boston in more cases than just vs the Lakers.

One thing i can do...................is FINGER ROLL.

Off the top of my head, these are guys that just seem to come through when the game is on the line.

G – Kobe
G – Manu
F – Pierce
F – Gasol
C- Tim (I’m going with Tim at Center because I’d still take his experience, smarts and declining skill over Dwight Howards inexperience.)

I’m hoping that after this year, RJ 2.0 may make more than a few “All-Clutch” lists. :)

He’s been growing his hair, en masse, in Mass. He’s just been in the shadow of Nate “The Grape” Robinson’s little-man syndrome for the past year.

'Offensive rebounding' is a gross understatement of DeJuan Blair's skill. It is far beyond 'offensive' and should be qualified as 'Get The Hell Out of My Way Or I'll Tear Your Arms Off and Eat Your Babies' rebounding.

He was supposed to be quite the pick up for them last summer, but got buried on the bench.

Man, Rondo’s just killing it with the assists.

I could dribble off my foot and have an assist on that team… he’s too cavalier with the ball for my taste.
props though

I used to really despise Rondo until the ’10 Finals. He has a really great game, as much as I hate(d) to admit.

Additionally, anyone who receives Chris Paul’s unprovoked anger gets an extra point in my book.

Rondo’s a beast. Great draft pick by the Celts (I think Phoenix actually picked him, then sold or traded him off to Boston).

I hope being part of the “Funky Bunch” was not the career highlight/pinnacle for these people…

Not for Marky Mark aka Mark Wahlberg. He was pretty good in Boogie Nights and The Italian Job. And isn’t he the exec producer of TV’s Entourage?

His older brother, Donnie Wahlberg (who incidentally helped Mark get started in his ‘singing’ career) is a terrific actor. Great performance in HBO’s Band of Brothers, and is currently starring in CBS’ Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck (and the lovely) Bridget Moynahan.

It’s OK. Frankly, I’m not liking the competition for posting quantity, over quality. Increasing numbers of one-word posts that add little to my enjoyment of the game thread, imho.

It is what it is… I’m not asking anyone to restrain themselves on my account.

I get what you say, tuna. But I dare you to point me to that one game thread that didn’t have a million one-word comments – and half a million of those consisted on “[player]DOG!”s or other random virtual shouts. It’s the nature of the beast, and cdeck’s ranking doesn’t seem to have had any real impact, beyond a couple of jokes.

I smell death... everywhere.

I’m wondering where the Game Threads go now, after the game is over. They don’t seem to be on the FanPost page, nor on the front page. Is there a special place on the Web where they go to die?
