Pop went on to say in the post-game interview: "I hope he sees that somewhere... he's the greatest." But this FP is not really about Big Shot Rob... though it's a little about his knack for taking his shot opportunities when they came up, and why Anderson, Neal, Quinn, Green, etc. may want to emulate one of my favorite Spurs. Earlier in the season, there was some discussion about players taking open outside shots vs. deferring, and I wrote something to the effect that they had better take open shots or Pop would yell at them. And that's basically what Pop said tonight, when he told Danny Green to keep shooting w/o hesitation, after the newest Spur missed two in a row: "He’s got to understand, if you care at all, it’s not going in. You’ve got to just let it fly and not worry about the consequences." See? It's not just that our shooters all have the green light to pull the trigger whenever they have good looks. You better take 'em, or Coach will sit you for a shooter who will. And this year, we've got a deep bench of available (and hungry for PT) sharpshooters. It's a great position for the Spurs to be in.
