Broke down and purchased league pass, please indulge me, as I would like to take this moment to explain why I despise a few things about it….
1. It’s got to reload for a few moments after every time the screen size is changed,( Even on recorded games) Highly annoying and detrimental to chatting in PTR and watching at the same time.
2. The screen size is not really tailorable to your taste. It offers 2 sizes, the small size is too small, and the largest size doesn’t even fill the computer screen.
3. The ticker on the game screen only displays the score of the game and not the time remaining (Who would want to know that kind of stuff ??) Ugh.

Though of course they don’t handle dual screens that well either. Cannot maximize the window to fullscreen on the second monitor as hitting any key, even with focus in the other monitor, puts it back to normal size.
Lauri: thank goodness I have you magnificent bastards to waste [the offseason] with.
You can get away with zooming in (hold ctrl while scrolling up on mouse) sometimes. It just depends on the video quality…

wow
thanks for the review since I may actually pop for it this year
The point with intangibles is that no one can see them.
My only other gripe with it is the DVR function, it’s not like a regular TV DVR that shows you exactly where you are by displaying both moving video, and a numerical value of where you are. This one basically functions in a blind manner, it doesn’t display video when you’re moving forward or rewinding, so you have to be careful not to overshoot the action You navigate by moving a small cursor along a horizontal line. There are white circles resting along this line, and these represent quarters. You judge how far into the action you are moving by how close you place the cursor to each quarter marker. This is how you navigate through a live game. However, there are no quarter markers on archived games.(Dumb)
Also, I mentioned there were only 2 screen sizes. In reality it has 3. But the smallest one is truly microscopic and is honestly useless. The fact that the largest one doesn’t completely fill my monitors 16:9 ratio isn’t the end of the world.
It does have good video quality to it though, it’s smooth and not choppy in the least. Don’t expect near HD level res though. I would describe it as just below Non HD TV Quality.
Though it has some genuinely annoying problems, they can be lived with and it’s a good deal. I selected the less expensive, 7 team deal (about $70 cheaper) and went with the contenders. Luckily, I will be watching the playoffs on a regular TV. I only went with this because cable TV is too expensive, and I don’t own a TV at the moment.
[ "Duncan, the Spurs' 34-year-old captain, was aghast when Splitter told him he used to watch him as a kid."]
"I didn't enjoy that at all," Duncan said
What I’m about to suggest may be a stupid way to do this, but perhaps you could adjust the resolution of your monitor downward (from 1280×1024 to 1024×800 or something like that) so that the video image provided by League Pass better fills your screen?

I tried reducing the resolution just now, it made the image fit the screen but it reduced the resolution (obviously) and also distorted the image by stretching it sideways. I will have to deal with the image not fitting the entire screen.
[ "Duncan, the Spurs' 34-year-old captain, was aghast when Splitter told him he used to watch him as a kid."]
"I didn't enjoy that at all," Duncan said
OK. You want the reduced resolution that you use to have the same aspect ratio as the ‘native’ resolution of your LCD monitor, otherwise you will have the stretching/distortion effect that you mentioned. To do this, divide the native horizontal resolution by the native vertical resolution to get the native aspect ratio; multiply that by your target vertical resolution to get the corresponding target horizontal resolution.

I think I can handle the fact that the image doesn’t fit my screen, but the other problems I mentioned about League pass are just annoying. Luckily, I will be watching the Playoffs on a regular television set.

Sounds like a bit of work, but I suppose that sounds a bit silly for people who spend as much time here as we do.
Are you being serious? If so, provide an example. I’m fascinated.
The point with intangibles is that no one can see them.
I try.
Say for example that the video alamobro wants to watch is locked at a resolution of 800×600, and he has one of those fancy HD-Ready 1080p widescreen displays that have a resolution of 1920×1080.
If he changes his display resolution to 800×600, he’ll get terrible image distortion, because he’s forcing an LCD with a 16:9 aspect ratio (more or less) into a 4:3 aspect ratio.
Instead, divide 1080 into 1920 to get 1.7777…. (16/9), then multiply that by 600 (the target vertical resolution) to get 1066.6666…. So if he has a setting for 1066×600 available, he’s golden.
Problem is, there probably isn’t. But what he can do is compromise a little, and go with a new target vertical resolution of 720. 720 times 1.7777 is 1280, and there is almost certainly a setting for 1280×720. The video won’t be full screen (can’t be, actually, because of the differences in aspect ratio), but it’ll certainly take up more space on the monitor than if the monitor was at it’s default setting. (Be sure to turn it back after the game.)
If all this math has your head spinning, there’s an easier way… just use this list of common resolutions, and find the aspect ratio corresponding to your monitor’s native resolution. Then look for a lower resolution that has the same aspect ratio (16:10 and 16:9 are reasonable close to each other) AND is close to the size of the resolution-locked video.

Good win away, against an in-form team.
We shot poorly from three, but still won. Bonner, Neal and Manu all won’t shoot that poorly very often.
Good signs: great rebounding, esp offensively.
Blair looks more comfortable with his role, played well against Millsap.
Hill looks more and more like his end-of last year self.

Tiago is adjusting,I can find him sometimes ala RJ1.0 and some rushed offense,IDK if it is just how he moves since he’s lean. But in order for him to learn,Pop needs to take a risk and let him play 8-10 mins even just the last 1:30 or 2 and half mins.On defense,I think he loves drawing charge.I think his defense is good but not as good as what it can be if he does improve so as his offense.

Yep, that seems to be the game plan. A lot more gambling on defense. Some don’t like that, but I like it. Anyone with the ball has to spend a little bit of their awareness watching for Tony or Manu, so it slows them down fractionally.
Lauri: thank goodness I have you magnificent bastards to waste [the offseason] with.
I’m liking it too. It suggests that the team has some confidence in their interior defense to allow their guards and wings (RJ’s in on this too) to gamble for steals. And even if they don’t manage to come away with the steal, deflections can be almost as effective in terms of disrupting the opposing team’s flow on offense.

Its weird and exciting to see the Spurs causing so many turnovers and converting on such a high percentage of them.

Questions the Spurs answered tonight
1) can they win while shooting poorly from 3pt land? (affirmative)
2) can they win on the road against a good team while playing a low-scoring game? (verily)
3) do they have a plan for 4th quarters in close games? (Lex Tension & GoatPuff pickenroll)
4) can they create controversy on the court (Splitter DNP-CD)?
The point with intangibles is that no one can see them.
I was surprised to see Dejuan only had 8 boards, it looked like he was beasting tonight. But he did have 6 offensive caroms.

I repeat that the dude who wrote the preview of this game, Cap Hill, is one sick puppy to
compare Al Jefferson to the greatest PF/C to ever play this game. Dude, you lost any
credibility you may have had. The success we’ve enjoyed is mainly attributable to the man. I love Duncan maybe even more than my wife and dog.
Cap is not a dude, mercer.

The gender of the previewer is totally irrelevant. What matters is the substance, and
the comparison between Jefferson and the great one is absolutely ludicrous.
Ok dude,this is PtR,we joke a lot.Sorry if it hurts ur view.Peace

Anybody that calls Cap a sick puppy has lost all credibility. Crazy, yes. Sick puppy, no.
Lauri: thank goodness I have you magnificent bastards to waste [the offseason] with.
Bye guys.Got to eat lunch. And good night for those who will sleep.
Nice game and nice chatting with you guys.
This spurs team sometimes can really scare the hell out of us.But they do know now how to win.I guess Tim really wants another ring collection and I guess he does want to help Dice with that one!Silver and Black in June!
"I cry,but everyone will cry if I'm in the NBA"-Adam Morrison.I know now why fans cry when they see him on the floor.
If I had heard that the Spurs bench only had 14 points, the team shot a terrible 25% from behind the arc (and that Bonner couldn’t hit the ocean tonight) and 71% from the FT line, turned the ball over 13 times, never scored more than 26 points for any quarter, etc., I would be asking “So by how many points did the Spurs lose?”
But they won, by forcing 14 turnovers of their own (10 steals), and winning the battle of the boards 46 to 30. They held the Jazz bench to 17 points (11 of them from Miles), and Utah to 21.4% behind the arc and 41.9% overall… and to 14 pts. twice, for the first and last quarters. They did it by an old-fashioned whooping, with our starters (except for Manu, who must’ve played a lot with our bench tonight) recording plus-minuses of over or nearly +20, and their starters having plus-minuses of -10 or worse.
It was a strange game, box-score-wise, but it suggests to me that the Spurs can win in several different ways this year. I like it.

George Gervin is rolling around in his grave. Just sayin’
Congrats to Timmy. It was great to witness this, too bad he had those single digit games earlier, it would have been great to achieve this at home.
With a back to back tomorrow, we might see Tiago again. He can redeem himself, now that Matt Bonner’s hot streak looks like its already over.

let’s not pray it’s not really over,we all know we do need Matt even if sometimes we hate to see how awkwardly he runs.Let just say,Bon is a role player who knows his role and can step up when it is most needed for, like the playoffs or the finals ,it’s ok to suck in 35 games this season as long as he’ll play his heart out in the playoffs.Nice game over all,but this wasn’t Sandwich’s night. So maybe next time. And for Tiago,I think pop is just resting him for tomorrow.

Anyone notice how tight our rotations are so early in the season? I wonder when will Pop fall off the wagon and play mad scientist.
AND what I thought was a surplus of guard/wing talent, the way Anderson and Neal started out. Hmmm… “Anderson and Neal” sounds like a political commentary show.

It’s all over but the free throws. If you missed it, from earlier tonight:
Darko Milicic, C 40 min 10-18 fg 3-3 ft 6 ORB, 16 total, 5 assists 6 blocks
I hate it when there are late free throws, and the guy shooting em is a Ray Allen or Nash or Korver or Ginobili at free throws. Takes all the suspense out of it to know they’re almost certainly gonna make both.

I’m going to have to write another post using these GameFlows. Seems to me that, as much as I love the way our reserves have been playing, we’re winning mainly because our starting five (and/or our Big 4 plus Dice) are beating up on opposing teams’ starters (or pretty much any five-man unit they play against our best unit). I’ll have to see if the popcornmachine’s data supports my thesis.

So, I feel like this should be said. Tony is playing better than I remember ever seeing him play before. Better than 08-09, even.
Yes, he is. His offense is on par with 08-09, but his assist/steal numbers are fantabulous, and I’ve been impressed with Tony’s defense this year. Ironic, considering he’s French.
