RJ and the Sandwich Man!

There are a lot of things I love about this game!  Quality win against decent (read over .500) team,  come form behind, nearly perfect 3rd quarter, and  first game I got to watch completely and live (boston area here not local L) The big 3 are always the big 3 and when they play well its not a big surprise, but I loved this game for Bonner and Jefferson.  Neither of them lit it up in the box score, but both had great games if you watched.

Jefferson’s 12pt 5 reb 1 ast is really close to what he averaged last year when everyone loved to blast him and yet in this game he looked so much better then he did last year.  He was not shooting well (3-10) but seemed to have a few and one chances that bounced around the rim but just couldn’t fall.  He also seems clutch with at least a few of his rebounds and his foul shots (5-5).  No TOs, no plays looking lost on off or def once a quarter like last year.  Always made the right pass always seemed in the right place, seemed to come up big with FT and Reb.  Its weird but this just felt like a good game for Jefferson and you look at the stats 12pt (3-10fg) 5 reb 1 ast and you might not think so, but I would take this game from Richard every night.

Then there was Bonner.  He was very efficient (3-5 fg, 2-2 3pt) but not much else on his stat line.  Pop clearly saw the difference when he was in and kept him in there for the huge rally from the last few min of the 1st half to the end of the 3rd QT.  Again box score was weak but he also seemed to make all the right passes and didn’t force anything or make any mistakes.  For some silly reason Chicago didn’t seem to be forcing matt to defended in the paint much.  There was on play where Noah shot over him but it wasn’t horrible defense and Noah had good deep position and still seemed to have to hit an awkward  shot right at the rim.  That was the only point on defense where I was like “oh crap Matty is going to get owned down there”.  He spread the floor on offence and made all good decisions and brought effort on defense and seemed in good position most of the time.

Obviously it was a total team effort but I liked what I saw from these two guys.  We started flat and I was disappointed to not see Splitter at all but it was great to see them have solid games with having to shot lights out and have 20+ points to get every ones attention.
