not bad for 6th

Why are teams still signing Sean Marks?
'Offensive rebounding' is a gross understatement of DeJuan Blair's skill. It is far beyond 'offensive' and should be qualified as 'Get The Hell Out of My Way Or I'll Tear Your Arms Off and Eat Your Babies' rebounding.
It’s temporary, Portland is expecting both Oden and Pry back.

Spurs win! I’ll make sure to post some serious numbers next game. I just had a couple friends over. Couldn’t be a bad host typing away the whole time.

At 5’6", even I could be a dominant ‘big man’ in the Shire League. :)
Those pesky 3’ nothing guards would be a pain to deal with, though.

I’m really confuse on what Pop is doing with Neal.

Sean mentioned that it was probably due to the Clippers’ length. Neal is a bit on the short side, unfortunately.

Probably, but how about against the Laker’s length? We really need the sweet shot of his against them…

It’s an arguable move. If he’s able to keep up this play throughout the season, though, I’m sure we’ll find time for him in big games.

Well OK, but didn’t he play well against them before? I don’t get it.
I think it may have been a combination of a conscious effort by Pop to play Hill more tonight, and the game being close, making it difficult to pull Tony and Manu out.
I really like Neal’s assist to a cutting Dice… very nice! That tells me he gets the Spurs’ scheme.

I absolutely love Blair… but something’s gotta give.
He seems less dominant this year than last…

Even though I think Blair played better tonight, his +/- was -14.
McDyess and Splitter both +10. And played better D on Griffin, but I need to watch the game again to be sure of that.
And what’s with four offensive fouls? He’s being a tad overeager, I think.

I remember two being clearly dumb over-the-back fouls. And one looked like a charge. Not sure about the fourth one, will have to watch the game again.

It’s a record that would cost a fortune to make today (not that the Beasties are starving, by any means), or could not be made at all, but was able to in 1989, due to no ‘sampling’ laws/publishing, etc. I think it’s the finest case if you want to make an argument in favor of sampling.

And how about some love for John Wall, who had his first triple double (I think) tonight?

Great game. Well, could have been better but it’s a win. Good that George got his shot back and Tiago looks better each game.

I’m not sure if Hill’s shot is fully back but it looks like it is making progress. However, it seems that Hill passed up on jump shots a few times which put pressure on the shot clock. It looks like his confidence is a little shakey. Although tonight might help improve upon that confidence.
+1

The good news, another win, great start to the season, W/L-wise.
The bad… well, it wasn’t an easy win, even against the Clippers, whom the Spurs have been beating like a drum for forever. And they were without Kaman, Bledson, Gordon, etc. The Spurs again made the game a lot harder than it needed to be, though Timmy did get some rest on the bench.
OK, there was more good news than the win. In addition to Timmy’s rest (though I suspect that it was more about the flu and Pop had to put him come back in the 4th when LAC got too close), Splitter (and Dice) looked good, and Hill looked better tonight than he has in a while (though he has to stop passing on those open threes). RJ 2.0 continues to impress, and TP’s 7 assists in the first half?! Manu made some mistakes, but he’s still clutch. And the team looked like it was playing better defense during short stretches in the game… I’m liking the Twin Towers 2.0.

In defense of the bad, Duncan was out and when he was in, he was definitely noticeably not there. I’m sure Spurs would have pulled away if Duncan played normal minutes at normal strength.
Even though Manu was pretty good, I’d give him an A-, because he made 3 or 4 careless passes and a few of them led to Clipper points that helped them make their runs.
Parker was the better ball distributor tonight, which I found surprising. He also had a play of the year reverse layup. That was sweet not to mention his sweet pass to Blair for the dunk posted above. He made the offense go, especially in the 1st half. I’d give him the A+
I still think Hill doesn’t trust his shot even though he did hit some of his jumpers. His passing up shots put pressure on the shot clock a few times and caused I think one 3-second call. I think this is why Pop didn’t play Neal, forcing Hill to contribute more.
Manu also had the bad foul after the Duncan-Griffin jump ball in the 4th that could have been devastating. But he’s Argentine clutch, and thus has to be forgiven. Especially after the headshaker behind the back move that froze the Clippers’ D and let him get to the rim for a layup over a leaping Griffin.
Agree about Hill needing to shoot instead of pass when he has open looks behind the arc…. his hesitation cost the Spurs, and I hope he gets his confidence back. Then again, RJ 2.0, whose confidence thus far is not in question, also passed up one or two shots given similar looks to Hill’s.
Nice to see some love for TP. Really enjoyed watching his play tonight.
