This image provided by NOAA shows a deep-sea Chimera in waters off Indonesia in July, 2010. Chimeras are most closely related to sharks, although their evolutionary lineage branched off from sharks nearly 400 million years ago, and they have remained an isolated group ever since. According to scientists the lateral lines running across this chimera are mechano-receptors that detect pressure waves (like ears). The dotted-looking lines on the frontal portion of the face (near the mouth) are ampullae de lorenzini and detect perturbations in electrical fields generated by living organisms. Nope.

LatinD always says that the game threads is where the magic happens.

So, whenever someone says something memorable in a game thread, I mark it by commenting “magic” so it’s easy to go back and find them later for the quick caps.

That way, people who weren’t able to make the thread, can still get a “best of” feel for what the thread was like, without having to read through twelve hundred comments.

Blocks (without fouling) take great timing and footwork.
But dunks usually mean two points, whereas a block could still turn into another possession by the other team.

I still remember his steal on the baseline of a tight meaningful game in the first round of the 2003 playoffs. I remember thinking about how I’d never seen anyone attack an offensive player from quite that angle before.

The subsequent possession iced the game, if memory serves, and I couldn’t stop geeking out over it.
