The most important factor this year will be..

Assuming everyone remains healthy  for the entire season, the most important factor this year will be..Greg Popovich. He has no excuse, this is the best team the Spurs have had since the 2007. (Mind you, I don’t think this team is as good, or will be as good as that 2007 squad, but I think they could still do some serious damage) However, the excuses that were made in the last 3 years cannot be made this season.

Manu is not coming back from a serious injury. Tony did not play ball over the summer. We scored maybe the best big man Duncan has had since #50 hung them up.

The bench should be significantly better, (let’s hope Gorgeous Georgies putrid preseason was an aberration). Dejuan will most certainly be better. Richard Jefferson will not be able to be excused due to it being his first year with the Spurs.

The talent is there, and I’m afraid if Pop doesn’t mesh this into a well oiled machine, the results will be less than satisfactory. I think Pop has gotten away for a long time with riding the big three, and with good reason. This netted several titles, but the big three aren’t as young as they were during those runs. The Spurs need a consummate team approach, the way the Celtics have been for the last 3 years. We can no longer win with the “Give the ball to the big three and get out of the way” approach. That’s my 2 cents.
