POLL: Which team will MISS the playoffs?
Before the holiday break there was a poll regarding which team in the west was most likely to move up into playoff contention. 54% voted for the ninth place OKC Thunder.
Fast-forward a couple of weeks and the standings look a bit different. The Spurs of course are already in the 3rd spot in the west and it is not even time for the RRT yet. Plus Oklahoma City has indeed climbed past Utah into 8th.
So let's change it up and figure out who will fall out of playoff contention. Based on what you've seen so far, which of the following teams is most likely to MISS the playoffs this season?

Hey I tried to do the poll as generically as possible. I even waited while the Spurs worked their way up to 3rd. (Which reminds me, is it time to adjust your signature yet?)
I think it is an interesting poll question to see if OKC & Portland can hold on. And I don’t know what the hell is going on in Utah???
Plus, I admire what those annoying Rockets are doing. But I wonder if they’re better off missing the playoffs this year and getting into the lottery.

I thought the same thing about the Rockets. Nobody will think less of them if they miss this year, with the injuries and the T-Mac situation. But, I think they’re legitimately trying to find ways to bring that team up to par with the rest of the West through a trade. If that fails, we might see them fall off a bit to get a good draft pick in addition to the money they’ll have to spend on free agency. Plus, I don’t know how long they can keep being so scrappy.
The Spurs - now playing like sh*t again!
They’re playing the Lakers tonight too and they always play us tough. I actually think we match up better when Yao is playing.
No offense but do you really think Portland can hang in until April without a center?

seriously. I have not been paying close attention to standings

Since 4 people voted for the Lakers out of spite, I feel I should point out that “3rd in the west” was so yesterday. Try 5th on for size.

I voted for the Lakers just out of spite.

No fuck? For whom? Who would they possibly get that they want? Terry? Damp?! Will Dallas let Dirk go?

Boozer’s expiring – it makes no sense for them to move him.

That’s what I’m saying. Unless he’s traded for someone they could use who wants to be on the team—and by virtue of contract, has to be on the team.
Since I’m not an insider, I was wondering what the rumors said that Utah was interested in. For Boozer’s expiring, they could get Damp’s 2 yr contract, Shawn Marion’s, Dirk’s, Terry’s or Kidd’s.
I’d assume they wouldn’t want Kidd (Deron) or Marion (Kirilenko). That leaves JT, Damp or Dirk. But Dallas won’t let Dirk go, and Utah wouldn’t gain too much from getting Dampier. So I’d say the rumors are Terry (+ someone else) for Boozer.
I’m just imagining here: Dallas could go really big with Kidd, Howard, Dirk (he used to be an SF, and he doesn’t post much anyway), Booze and Damp. Marion and Gooden off the bench. That’s a bit scary.
Utah would have Deron, Terry, Kirilenko, Millsap and Okur. Not bad.
Unless of course, the rumors are nonsense…

Well, it was said that Boozer’s not happy, and Utah wants to trade him. I was just saying that if the deal is indeed to be made with Dallas, Terry’s the only one who I think is feasible. In the end, it probably won’t be with Dallas though.
