Dude, I just found out about another dog from Argentina, the Perro Polar Argentino. Sadly it’s extinct now.

God game it looks like. Another solid 8 and 10 night from Dejuan. And Timmy, that old fart, flirted with a triple double? Almost. Good win over a .500 team.

I wasn’t able to watch the game, but did you guys see a THABEETDOWN?

If you liked it then you should have put a 5th ring on it. Oh oh oh.

I missed the game as well…but according to the box score, Thabeet exploded for 3 and 4! Seriously, a monster game! And Blair goes for a near double double.

Thabeet blocked Manu on the highlights I saw. :-(

More proof that you can’t shut Thabeet down — you can only try to contain him.

At 7-3, if Thabeet does not finish the game with atleast one block, he should not be paid for the game. There was once an interesting discussion between Chuck, C Webb and Kenny one time on TNT about those kind of things.

could you imagine if Tim Duncan ever got into broadcasting in the future and had to sit between Shaq and Iverson as part of the TNT crew, my friend (not imaginary) and I have thought for hours about this.

okay, sometimes I think about this with my imaginary friend.

Timmeh would never let himself be put into that kind of a position.

Remember, he was Robinson’s padawan. And the Admiral has been able to stay away from media jobs.

I wish that Blair would be Duncan’s padawan, but Duncan once mentioned that he only takes one player a year and watches/guides that one closely, I don’t think it’s Blair. Dice has seemed to taken a liking to DeBeast though, which is good. It’s also weird that the Longorias have brought DeBeast under their wing. Hill seems to be somewhat, but not that much, close to DeJuan. This team is weird. Yet if you base it solely on the court, Manu and Blair are so in sync that one would think that they participate in circle j…. ::doesn’t want to get banned:: desert trips together. Their basketball instincts are just so phenomenal.

by the little o on Jan 30, 2010 1:36 AM CST up reply actions

Tim doesn’t watch/guide anybody closely. In fact, he said, “I don’t do the ‘under the wing’ thing” when asked whether he had taken DeJuan under his wing.

We specialize in misinformation around here. Facts and stats just get in the way.

I know. If Duncan truly was a comedian, he would do it for the sake of comedy though. Don’t let me down Merlin.

We could probly listen to Tim talk about basketball all day long. (While the rest of the world dozes off! ;-P ) The problem though, and maybe it’s just me, but would you guys and girls disagree that most of the announcers we have the privelidge of hearing talk (i.e. Webb, Barkley, Kenny, E. Snow, Smitty) probably are not better than a decent portion of the players they talk about? (Barkley being the exception. He’s one of the best PF’s ever. Never as good as Tim, who he constantly praises as the greatest PF of all time.) MJ has yet to be a broadcaster, Magic does sometimes, Bird coaches and GMs. I like Kevin McHale, though! Horrible GM, but great player, and obviously very knowledgable. Nobody beat Bill Walton, though. Haha!

by Ed (dfjmed) on Jan 30, 2010 1:33 AM CST up reply actions

Good point. All of the all time greats are just too great for tv. I’m not sure if Duncan would make a better coach, or GM. I’ll have to think about that.

Honestly, I feel that the analysts that they have on tv aren’t that far off, or probably worse than the individual knowledge of people here on PtR. I’m not sure if that speaks more about PtR, or about the analysts on TV, but I guess they get the edge on winning over the audience since they’re famous/non-losers.
