I’m a Spurs fan because, well, first off, I’ve always admired the Admiral. And I like their front office. I think they do things the right way. Unlike Chicago sports, they give me something to root for, and they demand excellence and attempt to stay competitive, rather than stay satisfied with the seats just being filled. I find Chicago sports uninspiring.

I’ve been on the BAD end of some trades this year. I hope Cutler only needs a year in the system, adn just needs some help. I don’t even know. What a bust.

Heroes of the Game (for the Bulls):

3. Blair: Played well — 8 and 11 (8 off) — but missed more than a couple of easy ones, shooting 4-13.

2. Manu: Shot 4-14, and a team high 3 TOs (and missed that late shot on the non-call)

1. RJ: He is RJ. 1-8 FG, 0-3 from three, 0-2 FT, 0 assists, and a team worst -14. He is RJ.

He’s just flat-out sucking. I’ve defended him for long enough and it’s made me look like a fool. 2 points on 1-8 shooting? Plus 0-2 FT’s? And only 2 rebounds with no assists? Give me a break! I could play better than that.

The San Antonio playbook has exposed him.

It makes me appreciate just how good Parker and Ginobili are. In their best seasons, those guys would have all world stats on any other team. ( Certainly in New Jersey, at least )

Exactly, Parker and Ginobili would be perennial All Stars, if not superstars, if they were in bad teams during their prime.

RJ always picks on Timmy. Teases him. Duncan should return the favor. Something during the postgame, like: “That’s our big offseason acquisition!” or “Those two points were worth 14 million,” or “At least Bruce would have a minimum of three points.”

Hi PTR readers, Bulls fan here

Just wondering, but what was up with the Spurs defense last night. We do not normally shoot that well and we’re in the midst of a 3 game stretch posting FG% numbers exceeding 50% for the first time I can remember since the Jordan/Pippen years, but I did notice that a lot of our shots did not face that usual Spurs shot pressure. We had cushions. Rose is going to get them because he can drive, but Kirk Hinrich was getting them and he’s no threat to drive.

Is it just age?

Typically I associate the Spurs with high IQ basketball and specifically knowing what your opponents bring to the table, but the Spurs looked old and dumb last night defensively. Perhaps the team was trying to cover up Duncan’s declining defense on the perimeter.

I believe it’s RJ’s low basketball IQ.

Or maybe it’s bad karma for calling off the wedding.

Aren’t you going to change your signature? Why would anyone want to fire Del Negro after all the big wins that the Bulls have had lately?

Panic Button

I’ve reached the stage of singling out the movement and actions of players who do not have the ball. Phew, there is way too much poor defensive rotating and terrible spacing on offense. TD obviously has reached the stage of legs not giving him the lift or quick reaction in order to be an effective defender or offensive post player. He is having to alter his shots or watch them get swatted away. Manu is trying too hard to do something spectacular each time he has the ball, especially during his game ending last two possessions. Tony starts off real well, but then he loses his leg strength as the game progresses. By the fourth quarter he is a little bit slower and less able to knock down the 15 footers. Blair is doing OK for a rookie, but he often shoots line drives that have no chance of going in when he is five feet or more away from the rim. He has trouble defending bigs who have good post up moves. We’re getting what we expected from McDyess, but he too is on the downhill side of his career. Hill is a bright light, but like most he had a lot of trouble staying with the likes of Rose. Mason needs more floor time and when the heck is Pop going to start to use Mahinmi more often? I think the panic button has already been pressed, it is just that Pop and the players are doing a good job of hiding it.
