Pitt fan here, Hope you guys r enjoying Blair
I saw he had another monster game. This dude is the truth as you all know. From the first day he stepped on the court he was dominating dudes 3 or 4 years older than him in the BigEast. His freshman year he decimated Duke's frontline for 20 and 20. We REALLY REALLY miss him here at Pitt. If we had Blair we'd probably be a top 5 team right now. As far as I'm concerned, there are 32 GMs that need to be fired for not taking this guy in the 1st round. Me and my boys were not only disgusted,...but we were grief stricken when we heard he and Sam Young went in the second. Both those guys were first rounders and they're proving it.

Even though Pitt resides on the opposite side of PA, I get the feeling they’ll be pretty well represented at February 19th’s Spurs/Sixers game. Maybe I should make the trip out there and go.
"...and programmed to save the day!"
Congrats on the big win over UConn last night too. Great night for Blair and Pitt.
He is already a fan favorite here in SA. I see a good amount of 45 jerseys at the home games.
Slight correction though….25 GM’s I think….30 teams – the Spurs (picked him) – the Magic (no picks) – the Celtics, Heat, (no picks before Blair) – Clippers (no picks between Griffin and Blair, and despite any of our opinions now and with the injuries, Griffin was the number 1 pick and no one should be fired for taking him first)
You might be able to justify a couple other picks but some teams passed him over 2, 3, or even 4 times before the Spurs got to him. You could also argue that no team traded up to get him once he fell to the second round, and the drafting team could force his non-ACL’ed knees into a less risky contract.
I swear to God I never understood the big fuss about his acl’s. A rookie contract is, what,..3 or 4 years? You’re telling me a 21 year old’s knees won’t hold up that long? Sign him up, if he’s durable. Extend him. Simple as that. Hines Ward has been playing for 12 years without an ACL in his right knee.
There’s a simple phrase that basically incapsulates why these GMs screwed up. The paralysis of analysis. They’re so busy turning over every stone when they’re scouting that they miss the forest for the trees.

Exactly.

We love Blair, and Blair absolutely adores Pitt. He tweets about every game—very loyal to his alma mater.
I have flying monkeys at my disposal, and I'm not afraid to use them.
We love him right back. Dejuan Blair and Dan Marino are kinda different from most Pitt alums because they literally grew up on campus. Dan’s from South Oakland (Pitt’s neighborhood) and Dejuan is from the Hill District (an adjacent area).
But Dan is a Miami guy now,…Dejuan will ALWAYS be a Pittsburgh guy. I tell everyone he’s the greatest Panther of all time,…better than Marino, Dorsett, Larry Fitzgerald, Darelle Revis etc etc.
Not only am I a huge Pitt fan, but I also attended Schenley High School one year under Blair. draft night pissed me off until I realized that he was going to be mentored by the best player in this decade and playing under one of the best coaches in the league
kid keeps proving people wrong at each level. spurs fans (as I am now) should get excited for his sophomore season, because his offseason work ethic is one of his best qualities.
as for a big showing at the sixers game, i’d expect more of a following in washington and cleveland, given that they’re much closer to PGH. I know i sported my 45 jersey at the wizards game (yes, the one in which he posted 4 points and 2 rebounds)
anyways, spurs you have a new fan in pittsburgh. and pitt is proving people wrong left and right.
goodtimes
