Game Preview #35: New Jersey Nets @ San Antonio Spurs
Oh, you think New Jersey sucks? Did you happen to see the 4th quarter of Friday night's game against Dallas? Yeah, exactly.
This might look a tiny little bit negative, so I apologize in advance.

Keys To The Game

Strength of ScheduleBoth teams have had a day off, and will face one of the league elite teams next. The Spurs will play the Lakers at home on Tuesday, while the Nets travel home for a game against Boston on Wednesday. Last Time They MetThis is our first game against the Nets this year, but last season, the Spurs got a 108-93 win in New Jersey on February 10, 2009. |

Where to Tune In
TVThis game will be aired on FSN Southwest in SA, and YES in the New York/New Jersey area. If you have cable or satellite, you'll have to look up your individual channel. And of course, there's always League Pass for the haves. For the have nots, read on. OnlineAs always, NBA League Pass is recommended for those who are willing to pony up the cash. Most Spurs games will be broadcast there, which is especially helpful for those of us who aren't in the San Antonio area. Please don't post links to illegal game feeds in the game thread. Links to illegal feeds are not permitted on SBNation, but you can probably find them out there on the internets if you're resourceful and desperate. In fact, nobody can stop you from googling "atdhe". You can also shoot an email to dmenendez@gmail.com for more assistance. NBA League Pass audio is still free this year, so check it out. RadioIf you're in the San Antonio area and aren't near a TV, tune in to WOAI (1200 AM). |

Which ever Spur player that gets lit up by 20 points or more, should just get on the bus with Nets and head to New Jersey.
We will send the trade papers later.

Dallas and Dever both lost last night.

great preview.keep it up…i love reading it…hope its effect to the game is like that of our game in milwaukee….hope we do this everyday and we’ll surely…..whatever result it is…we should do this…its like a kid that you need to have patience then when your full you can shout on him to stop asking questions and behaves…hopes this happens.
yes we are sucking…but there is always space for improvement at sucking.
Lets loose this one after blowing a 29 point lead on a 58 point 4th quarter by the nets. Yi game high 42 points, all in 4th quarter.

Good job, Tim, with the negative preview. It had to be done. You did, however, forget to put in somewhere that the refs suck. We wouldn’t want them to get upset about not being included and toss the whole team, would we?

I’ve been meaning to ask you – how do you make the caption do that rollover thingy?

If the team needs to be whupped by the Nets just to awaken their defensive intensity then so be it.

These will be hard, trying times if you are a Spurs fan; after what was a cakewalk of a schedule that left the Spurs with the fewest games played to date, and mostly against not-so-good competition (below .500), the Spurs are now bombarded with 12 of 17 games played against the league’s upper crust, right before the needed All Star break. This is the time where the Spurs’ D will be put to the test.
I am not too worried about the Spurs vs. Mavericks game because the Spurs were playing the best defense until Nowitzki’s Nuclear Reaction of a fourth quarter. As Andrew A McNeill from 48MoH had previewed, it would come down to the game of matchups. It turns out that, for now, we haven’t solved the Rubik’s Cube that is the Dallas Mavericks. But the rest of the league can’t stop the Spurs and how big of an offensive juggernaut they actually have become. After those three losses in early December that left the team 9-9, they’ve been playing at a .750 rate, and although they played against toilet scrubbers, they’ve improved immensely.
However, like I said before, these might be trying times if you’re a Spurs fan. They might lose a few games at first to over .500 teams, but have patience because they will pick up speed and start to get on a roll just in time for their February road trip. It will be interesting to watch.
“The rest of the league can’t stop the Spurs”? Um, we do have 12 losses. The wins will come due to the parity in the league – the Nets, Knicks, Warriors. That seems to be how we’re playing it this year and it will probably squeak us into the playoffs.
My point (concern) is not about the winning percentage in December against “toilet scrubbers” but where the losses have come — quality opponents. Losses dating back to mid-November include: Dallas, Utah, Boston, Denver, Utah, Phoenix, Portland, Toronto and Dallas. I don’t care about the “toilet scrubbers” wins. We need quality wins against quality opponents. Lakers game on Tuesday will be very interesting.
Very true argument. The Spurs do have 12 losses and all signs point to this coming stretch as the barometer for how far they have come in defense. If they do pile up the losses against the 12 games of competition .500 or better, things will turn to panic mode because we don’t want to hang around the Thunder, Rockets, Blazers, or Hornets when they get hot.
So, my point, if the Spurs rack up 6 more losses in the next 17 games, there should be a trade looming to bring an impact player like Antawn Jamison
UGH!!!!! FUCK!!!!! we should have fucking won that fucking DALLAS game!! WHY THE FUCK DID WE BLOW IT! We could have fucking beat those fuckers! FUCK!!!!! BUT NO! WE Fucked it up again! IM FUCKING PISSED! WE BETTER WIN TONITE’S FUCKING GAME AND WE BETTER BEAT THE FUCKING LAKERS ON TUEDAY NIGHT but I know too much to ask of my fucking team!!!! UGH!! FUCKING SPURS! WAY TO GET ME ALL FUCKING WORKED UP!
