Here is an article that discusses how most NBA teams address players who want to play internationally, in "charity" games or to keep in shape over the summer.

Thank you so much for posting this. It was interesting to read how “Cuban did not grant permission for Nowitzki or guard J.J. Barea to participate in this year’s Eurobasket tournament” and many other parts of the article about how players need to get clearance to participate in non NBA events.

Dallas owner Mark Cuban has been an outspoken critic of international tournaments for NBA players, questioning the business sense of risking your most valuable human resources in ways that don’t benefit the company (while being on the hook financially if one of them gets hurt, sometimes an NBA player suffers an injury on his own time )
Douchebag.
You know what doesn’t benefit the company? Players just wearing jerseys and not showing any kind of sponsorship. I bet a lot of money could be made from having sponsors. But even better, let’s have every player tattooed with “Brawndo” on their forehead. That should benefit the company.

Well, Phoenix is going to have a sponsor for their jerseys next season. Like the Mercury right now.
About that, did you notice how professional I was? I didn’t call the Mercury “the Lifelocks” even once.

Phoenix is only being sponsored for their practice and warmup duds, last time I heard.
