Spurs Sign Keith Bogans
In an unexpected development, the Spurs have signed veteran swingman Keith Bogans.
More on this later, when I have time.

That’s kind of hard since he retired.
This isn’t good for the likes of Marcus, Malik, and Jack. I’m not sure what the Spurs were thinking with this move…
AKA: Linix129
Something smell fishy to me. I thinking there is goign to be a trade here. Although I think this is a good siging and Bogans could proved solid Defense on most of the guys out west.

I like the sign too, bogans is a pretty good defender and he can shot the 3. I think that Hairton is going to be the loser here.
The spurs are really making me scatch my head this summer. They can be the best defense team in the league with the team they have now but I think there will be a trade now. Were stacked with Players and Proven players we just signed so I think there will be a trade before camp. I do hope though we do keep Bogans he is a good D player could be even beter in a team that’s main focus is D.

i dont think that a trade is coming, at least not for now, maybe at the deadline. The spurs have a lot of rookies, and pop does not trust rookies that much, I think that one of the reasons for this move. I think that Marcus Williams is going to be one to earn the last spot on the team, since the FO loves him. The others J.Mack, Gist, Hairston and Jerrels are going to be cut, or sign with the Toros.
That just my guess that if they do make a trade it will be most likely before training camp. You want guys to have team chemistry come playoff time. I wish I could actully predict what the spurs are planning on doing. Here what they have done all summer.
Richard Jefferson
Dejuan Blair
Marcus Haislip
Malik Hariston
Antonio McDyess
Theo Ratliff
Keith Bogas
That Jellings kid
The spurs may be trying to get back to being a great defense team. With the players they have now they shure could be. I have never been so hyped up for the Pre season.

Hairston is going to hurt us if he gets cut. Book it.

Who then? Unless they salary dump Bonner for a draft pick(or something), either Hairston or Williams – and maybe even both – get cut. The Spurs have a problem a lot of other teams will envy – too much talent, and not enough roster spots.

I think there’ll be a draft. And I’d like to know more about whether they can send some guys to the Toros.

I thought Hairston could play for the Toros one more year

He can, but he’d still have to be on the Spurs roster if they want to keep him away from other teams.

I’m having a hard time seeing some of these guys as anything else as training camp cannon fodder.Keith Bogans, Curtis Jerrells, Marcus Williams, Marcus Haislip, and Jack Mclinton to play a role on the Spurs this season.
Lets try that again. I don’t expect Keith Bogans, Curtis Jerrells, Marcus Williams, Marcus Haislip, and Jack Mclinton to play a role on the Spurs this season.
Bogans and Haislip are guaranteed. So, unless Holt is will to take an even harder lux tax hit, we’re stuck with those two.

Keith Bogan signing
Bogans is a good man to have coming off the bench, but by my calculations it will put Malik Hairston on the cusp. Which of these two will do a better job defending strong perimeter 2 shooters, like Bowens did. I’m not sure. I think this may be just the first step in a pending two or three for one trade. Hairston is on a make good contract. I’m guessing trade, but what do the SPURS need and who else is on the trade block. Bonner, Finley? etc. There must be someone out there the SPURS have an eye on otherwise this doesn’t make sense.
WTF? I don’t NOT like Bogans, but good golly Spurs FO, when are you going to stop spending and start to allow fans to enjoy the finished product?

Somewhere between preseason and the regular season, I’m guessing.

I sure hope so. I don’t really wanna be a February team. The trading deadline (and midseason trades for that matter) should be for minor pieces and role players.
Ha!

do you guys think maybe they are going to put a package together to get battier? i also think it would be stupid to cut hairston and i want to see ian play a good solid year before any decisions are made. thoughts?
Outside of the big three plus one, I’d be willing to trade anyone on our roster for Battier.
Well, maybe not Hill.
Unless they also give us Brooks or Lowry.
But I’m not sure.
Good thing I don’t make the decisions for the Spurs.

Keith Bogans Signing
It really is getting crowded at the top. The Spurs almost have a full guaranteed roster now. Jerrells, McClinton and Hairston are on make good offers. Those that have definite contracts are Blair, Bonnor, Duncan, Finley, Ginobli, Haislip, Hill, Jefferson, Mahinmi, Mason, McDyess, Parker, Ratliff Williams and now Bogans. Hairston has the edge of the three make goods. One will make it, the other two will be asked to play for the Toros along with a couple of other invities. The training camp should be very, v-e-r-y competitive with so much talent. Popovich is going to be spending a lot of closed door skull sessions with his coaches this fall trying to finalize the final 15. I still think there is a strong possibility of a two or three for one trade that would allow the Spurs to go after the likes of Boozer or Battier. Exciting isn’t it?
Thinking of Battier in a Spurs uni makes my mouth water like smelling a medium-rare filet mignon on my plate.

It would definitely be nice. But I think that if the Spurs are going to make another move, it’ll be one that we’re not expecting. They’re pretty good at surprising us.

As of now, Im definitely maybe not expecting a possible move for Battier.

Yeah, I doubt a team is going to hand a sought-after defensive specialist to their in-state rival.

Yeah. Of course, the Spurs will NEVER hand a sought-after efficient big to their in-state rival either.

I’ll take that as a yes. What? There’s no question? I’m confused.
But hey, I hope it’s Battier rather than Booze-ay.
