Eurobasket '09: France and Spain Get It On
What a tough draw for a France team that has dominated the tournament. This should be a hell of a war. Tip off is 2:00pm Spurs time (I think).
You can find links to the box score and updates for the game at EuroBasket's home page.
I don't have time to give you a proper LatinD style preview, but I can tell you this: there are a lot of NBA players in this game. France, as we know, has Tony Parker, Rony Turiaf, Nicolas Batum, Boris Diaw, Ian Mahinmi (if he's healthy yet), and SpurNando. Spain has the Geico cavemen (Marc and Pau), Rudy Fernandez, former NBA-baller turned I'm-getting-the-hell-out-of-Memphis Juan Carlos Navarro, former NBA-baller Jorge Garbajosa, Raul Lopez (who I think played a couple years in the NBA, but it could be a different Raul), and three young guys who were all drafted this last year. Sergio Llull, Victor Claver, and some dude named Ricky Rubio.
You can bet the BlazersEdge guys will be watching this one with both Batum and Fernandez playing.

Thanks, Wayne. I was making a preview yesterday, but didn’t have time to finish it. But yeah, France drew the one low-seeded team nobody wants to play – should be a really tough game.

France is making a spirited run with TP on the bench. Still don’t have muchof a chance . . . now TP is back in.

Spain got it on. France got it put on them. 86-66.

Damn. I was hoping Mr. Gasol would lose and then be able to get a little rest before camp. We got some serious ass to kick this season – in the West especially. We’re gonna need him to be fresh.

Good for them but do they pass out free crack when you sign up or something?

I think Laker-hate is their drug of choice.
They don’t even allow the word on their site. It’s like an expletive over there.

I saw that. Made me laugh.
At least it was gentle chastising, and not a tongue -lashing
