Damn, why did we let Barry and Oberto go? We had better keep Bonner after reading this post.

Hmm

Role player who fits in well among better players = good

Star player who thinks he’s better than he is or placed in a position where he has to dominate the ball more than he should = bad

I think these kinds of lists are OK if people take them for what they are. What I don’t like is when stat-heads start arguing that these statistics are meaningful in of themselves rather than in relation to the dynamic of basketball…like arguing the T-Wolves should have been running their offense around Fred Hoiberg.

That sounds ridiculous, but I’ve seen lots of posts (not here, obviously) stating, for example, that David Lee should be the focal point of the offense for the Knicks, etc…

What, you expect commonsense to have a place in sports?

The coolest thing is scrolling down to see “The Most Overrated Seasons of the 2000s” and not seeing a SPUR one on the list. Not surprising, but cool.

Good post (even if it is just a Shot :) ), D of L.

Yeah, and the only player on the overrated list who ever was a Spur is Stephen Jackson. I think the lists speak to the Spurs system more than anything else. The Spurs are able to get more out of their role players than most teams.

I don’t think we will miss Oberto and Barry ancient. We will undoubtedly fit other players into that underrated role. Theo comes to mind.

No Lakers or Rockets there, either. But Battier appears on the underrated list quite a bit. ::swoon::

Re-sign Bruce Bowen!
