So we start 15-0?
That is a fairly easy schedule. Although we do face the hated Mavs twice early on.
Refresh again. December looks pretty home heavy too. Jan – Mar is going to suck.

Whoa! The Spurs are coming to Chicago this early?! I’m stoked. I’m going. No excuses this year.

thats our toughest strech along with the road trip
From March 5th until the end of the season, the Spurs only have one time where they have more than one day off and that is March 15th and 16th which starts the toughest part of the schedule.

Silver lining: that gives it a very playoff feel with most games having only day off. Plus, by that time in the season Pop should have an idea about which younger players have earned more minutes and what his rotation is. It would be much harder if this was happening in December.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.

Four times next year:
13 Dec v. Clips
6 Feb v. Clips
8 Feb v. Lakers
4 Apr v. Lakers
Can’t wait!
According to the schedule on nba.com, the Spurs are on national TV 28 times this year (NBA TV included.)

They always start the season on the last Tuesday (or the Tuesday before the last Wednesday) of October.

Can you take a look at the lexicon in it’s draft state — looks like someone threw up on it. Can you bring it under control?

I just hadn’t “previewed” it yet, and it looked like it was in a ton of different fonts and sizes. All that disappeared when the preview loaded. Much happier.

Format-wise? I saw a very incomplete version… there was barely anything written. Maybe you hadn’t saved your draft when I saw it. Will check tonight again.

Nothing screams offseason like the release of the nba schedule. Most nba sites will discuss it like if it was something important. Last time I checked we play the same teams year after year over a span of 82 games. 41 home and 41 away.

Hawks, Pistons, Cavs, and Magic are the last 4 teams we play in terms of first meetings….they are the only 4 teams we don’t play one game against in the first half of the season
Nice work. Do you have a formula for that or did you just brute force it with PoE?

Do you think bspn and more specifically hollinger have stat monkeys or programmers with massive databases that he can just come up with something like “I want to know how every team shot 3 pointers against San Antonio at home vs on the road and normalize that to what each team shot against playoff teams” and then someone makes that happen?
I was just curious about your methods. I think it’s cool that you started a spreadsheet for it. I can guarantee you that I’ve started spreadsheets for geekier things that this. Your stats and perspective are an asset to PtR. Please keep it up and don’t hang your head. WALK TALL.

Yeah, I was just talking about it with Wayne. I’ll make a FanPost tonight or tomorrow.

Finishing with 5/7 on the road is never fun… but it does offset opening with more home games which is best with so many new/young guys.
You gotta bring ass to get ass.
I agree—it should be a good final tune up and get the newbies into the road-warrior mindset they’ll need in the postseason (if the RRT doesn’t do the trick, that is)

I think they have announced a few special games, like the OKC game in Austin and the Olympiacos game, but I don’t think they have the full schedule yet.

We recently had a rush of PTR rookies and some of them struggled with the subtleties of the reply and rec buttons. Maybe a small paragraph regarding these?

This schedule seems altogether pretty favorable. only 17 back to back games > yes please!
To my eyes there are 3 potentially brutal stretches:
there’s the rodeo trip, where we host the Nuggets then do Sacramento-Portland-LAL-LAC-Denver in the course of 12 days.
March has a Miami-Orlando BTB on the 16th/17th, and the stretch from the Lakers game in SA on the 24th to when we face them on Apr 4th on the road (where we play Cleveland-Boston-NJ-Houston-Orlando and of course the champs twice). 4 of these 7 games are at home, only NJ is a back to back, and the Magic’s visit is the 2nd of a back to back for them, so it could be worse.
The third stretch i’m worried about is one everybody else seems excited by… the first 10 games or so. We see NO, Chicago, Portland, Utah twice and Dallas twice along with 3 crappy teams – how is that easy pickins’?
greyberger, welcome to PtR.
Good points on the schedule. I think your first to stretches are pretty dead on. As to the 3rd — aside from Portland and Dallas, I think the conventional wisdom around here would say that NO, Chicago and Utah aren’t going to fighting for top honors, and would therefore be likely to end as W’s for us, since we DO expect to be at the top of the Western Conference at the end of the first 82.

Nice. We have the second least number of back-to-backs in the league this year. Bout damn time.

shit thats a good sign.
unless some other old(-ish) contender like the celtics or the cavs have the least number of back-to-backs…
not that i’m scared ot that it would change the outcome—5 in ’10 all the way…

Hey ATS,
Not sure if it’s been mentioned but why is there an asterisk in your post above -
"Our first matchup against the 2009 NBA Champions* Los Angeles Lakers "
Last game of the regular season against Dallas is on my birthday. Is it too easy to start wishing for what I want?
And hopefully a few of the televised games will be on ESPN (it’s the only sports channel we get here in Oz. 2 NBA games a week..JOY!!!) (there were about half a dozen televised Spurs games this past season and they were all loses. Sad)
Oh, another thing. Think I should pay USD500 for 50 regular season Spurs games for this coming season from Pontel?? I wouldn’t minded seeing all the new guys play and the Big 3 go around again. Though I did buy that for the 07-08 season and we know how that turned out.
THANK YOU.
