No love? I say no problem

I saw a FanShot by Big50 entitled "Spurs get no love". It showed that only 7% of people thought that the Spurs would win the championship next season. I started to get mad at the 93% of fans who didn't pick the Spurs feel bad about my teams chances, but then I came to my senses. So people don't expect us to win. Alright, do they ever? And yet still every single year we're right there with all the contenders. So if we have to go through the season without any love from the fans and the rest of the NBA, then so be it. We like it that way.

Star-divide

Even after all the additions to the roster, and the improvement of our young players, and the fact that Manu is back, and the fact that this season is basically a five team race for the championship, people are doubting the Spurs? Well, silver and black don't exactly stand out. It's funny though that every team forgets about the Spurs, only until it's time to play them. I've heard it countless times before, players always say "You have to bring your best when you play the Spurs" (or something along those lines) So if this is the case, then why is it that so few people believe in our chances? This is definitely fear respect, no doubt. Maybe people think that if they don't think about the Spurs that they would just go away like some kind of bad memory. Well sorry people, dream and wish all you want but when you open your eyes your schedule will still say SPURS!!! on it with an asterisk next to it that says * bring "A" game

So my fellow fans of the NBA, continue to forget about the Spurs (we accept it). Keep pretending we don't exist ( we welcome it). Keep putting us under the radar (that just happens to be how we like it). So have fun dreaming that your schedule somehow doesn't require a trip to San Antonio. If it makes you feel better, you can keep your eyes closed when we play you.

Go Spurs Go

Im with you NBA fans are so @#%# dumb sometime’s. I just can’t wait for the season to start so the Spurs could domaneit like I am expecting them to. The only real gap we have is a deffensvie stopper and hopefully a more deffensvie focused RJ can be that, he showed signs of being a great Deffender when he was in NJ.Also if Manu come’s back healty look out NBA.

“sometime’s” “domaneit” “deffensvie” “Deffender” and “come’s”

I know that a lot of people want to get into the Lexicon. But you’re trying too hard. Make your best choice and stick with it. The stance of the committee is clear — one submission (at most, two) per comment, please.

You have to understand – the average “casual” fan has less BBall IQ than JR Smith. The average “casual” fan thinks Screaming A. Smith is a fountain of b-ball knowledge. So, don’t read too much into what the people voting on ESPN think, because most of them don’t know anything about basketball besides what they see at ESPN. Pretty much anywhere you go on SBN, they all know that SA is a contender, no matter what color the lenses they are viewing the summer through – which speaks to the quality of not only PtR, but the other SBN blogs.

Yup the reason I joned PTR is becuse of the basketball IQ we have here. all the other blog see the spurs are title contender’s.

They call themselves The Stephen A. Smith Heckling Society of Gentlemen. I’m not sure how the sock came to be though.

those are the two funniest videos i’ve seen all day. Poor Stephen A., it’s not his fault that he can only talk while screaming, oh wait, it is.

As bad as Smith can be and as characteristics as his manner of speech is, one thing is sure. If I met the DBs making the video I probably would not be able to stay sane for more than 2 minutes.

Aww. I didn’t watch to the end. Did it get to the point where he could tell that they were mocking him?

The day the majority of people pick SA to win the title will be when half our players end up in the tabloids as often as the sports section. No worries—it just makes kicking their tails that much sweeter when the time comes.

And mark my words, their time WILL come!

I for one don’t want to see Spurs players in any tabloids, I’ll be fine without that

rj’s cold feet must have landed in some tabloids.

He hasn’t suited up for a game yet. Give him a bit. He’ll be boring in no time.

Rec'd

Great post. I couldn’t agree more. Despite the Spurs success they are discounted time and again. I don’t have a problem with it for the very reasons you pointed out. Under the radar to hanging in the rafters.

by Big50 on Aug 4, 2009 9:07 AM CDT reply actions

Agreed…although, I must admit that I sometimes let ESPN get to me. But, everyone here is correct- what ESPN says and what happens on the court are two different things.

And I love that Big50…‘under the radar to hanging in the rafters.’
