Tony to miss next game with injured ankle
Well, what do you know? Tony has an ankle sprain that needs treatment. Hmmmm, I wonder if he's going to be all pooty now about being called back?

PPG = Pooty Poing Guard, not points per game?
This is probably for the best. The FO basically made Tony sit out one game, but he’ll be allowed to play for the Les Bleus again later this summer.

Ha! Didn’t even notice it the first time around. Nice catch. Think it’s Lex-worthy?

Pooty. It is intentional.

What are you talking about, old fart?
Tony Parker will miss the next game for the French national team after the Spurs confirmed a mild right ankle sprain in their star point guard.
They merely confirmed the sprain the doctors had found while he was in Europe. He will miss that game and maybe another because the Spurs brought him to the States for tests. You talk as if the Spurs discovered something naughty after further tests, and were right all along to pull him from international competition.
What are we reading differently here? I feel for Tony, not being allowed to play for his national team when he’s just as hurt (or not hurt) as everyone thought before they put him on a plane and scolded him like a child.

Indeed, if you go back and read the reports from July 27th, L’equipe was already saying he was doubtful for the next game (Hungary). In other words, Tony and the French doctors were planning to rest his ankle (against an inferior opponent) to prevent further strain, start a rehabilitation program, and return Tony to the court for a more important game later. Just like the Spurs would have done in that situation, non?
I’m worried about the way the Spurs have handled this situation. Yes, Tony is an “employee” who owes it to the Spurs to try to stay healthy. But things were being handled reasonably in France — the Spurs could have let him stay there and sent someone to evaluate him further (in fact, I think they did), thereby saving a lot of hard feelings and resentment. I fear that the course of action they took may actually end up hurting the team more than Tony’s mild sprain. I’d be pooty, too, if I were Tony.
Here is today’s story from the Eurobasket website. Spurnando will probably start at PG in Tony’s place in the Additional Qualifying Round game against Italy.
2 reasons this happened
1. because of what happened to Manu last year
2. because Holt just okay’d the biggest spending spree ever in spurs history and i’m sure he’s crappin’ bricks because if Tony gets hurt then the spending may have been for nothing.
there’s a lot more riding on Tony’s ankle’s then his super sexy 180 lb. frame – it’s the extra $10 mil. or so Holt is paying in lux tax on top of his nearly $80 mil. payroll. So i think Tony P should be a little more understanding of the FO’s paranoia surrounding this minor injury. it is minor but if Tony wants to be “the guy” for the Spurs again like he loved being last year, then he needs to understand all the good and bad that come with being a franchise player. He may be our most important cog next year and the FO won’t be too cautious with all that is riding on Tony. Tony needs to grow up and understand this. So no whining, Tony!

This is the text from the first article:
The sprain is reportedly mild, with no tearing or ligament damage and an MRI done today revealed no major injury, and Parker is expected to return for the game vs. Italy.
The next game is against Italy this Wednesday. The game against Hungary was their last tune-up game and was played on Thursday.
The game against Italy is part of the tournament and was the one they were making a stink about him missing because the Spurs called him back. Now, he’s reported to not have a healthy enough ankle to play.

Heh. Just noticed a funny typo on the ESPN page you linked to:
Adande: Starbury’s show a sad decent
Hey, nobody said they were the World-Wide Leader in spelling!
I love “sad decent” and plan on using it at the next opportunity.
A: Is he an OTSTANDING shot blocker?
B: No, he’s allright but he’s been quite sorrowful lately.
A: So you’re saying he’s “SAD DECENT”?

I’d agree with you if it was a joke.
But that was an attempt to show how silly and unlikely it would be for a basketball related conversation to include that particular phrase which made its way into an ESPN story.
Maybe I didn’t make it absurd enough.

OK I get that, but I could see Kenny ang Charles (TNT) cracking themselves up with that one.

I am still trying to understand the phraseology here. So ‘sad decent’ signifies what in general? Since its linked to Starbury, I think I kind of get the association, but somebody put it in words for me please :P
he missed the "s"
What Adande meant to say was that Marbury’s show was “a sad descent” presumably into madness, or something. But what he said was that it was “a sad decent” which is an incomplete statement. It’s a sad decent what? You can’t just say he’s “a sad decent” because they are both adjectives and your sentence is just asking for a noun.
Make sense now?

Yeah, you missed that tongue-smiley at the end there JRW that signified his knowledge of what he was asking. Plus, LZ is a man of supreme intellect. Unlike the rest of us.

This is just slightly worrisome
our PG who bases his game almost entirely on speed…. ankle injuries come in all shapes and sizes and are easily reaggravated.

Shove a croissant in his mouth and sit him until October.
