Antonio McDyess, Good not Great.

I am really excited that the spurs picked up a good big man. Antonio is a big basher who can spread the floor with a baby jumper, kinda like David picked up in his last years. He is someone who can gaurd and be gaurded by an opposing center. These skills are the assets that allow for Duncan to dominate, well make it easier at least cause we all know its happening either way.

The problem I have is that we offered him our MLE for 3 years, $15 milly guarunteed. I cant help but think its a bit much for a Kurt Thomas upgrade. Maybe I'm just sore that Thomas wasn't as productive as the spurs had hoped.  I just don't want to take the risk on someone on the downside of their career, like Thomas.

I dunno, maybe I'm bitter. Anyone else share a similar opinion? Or am I just wrong?

I think we all worry that it won’t work out, but reading Varner’s post over at 48 helped to ease my mind a bit.

Ya a little. I cant help but think we had better options in the trade. There hasn’t been news on Chandler lately. How amazing would that aquisition be?

Except that Chandler can’t pass and has no offense, with the exception of the alley oop. We needed a big who could fit in the Spurs system, especially considering the youth of the rest of our bigs.

Quickly: It was the best option available. We need to win now. Let’s roll the dice.

Whether intentional or not. Great pun. I like it.

He was the best thing we could get. He can spread the floor and block shots. He is alos a good deffender and can get us some boards.

I understand where you’re coming from, but I think the FO is also looking to guys we have, Ian and Blair. Plus they signed Haislip to help as well. Over all I think the Spurs are much improved over last years front court.
