Around SBN: The Worst Team Ever Projected?

Hornets and Bobcats are almost done finalizing the deal that will swap centers Emeka Okafor and Tyson Chandler.

To me it's kind of a wash, but the more I look at him, the more I realize that Emeka Okafor is exactly the type of big man I wish we had for Timmy to develop.

Edit: It's official

It might be done now.

I think this is a positive move for the NOOCH. They pick up a big who can play D and rebound. They really only lose some offense athleticism. This makes the Hornets better IMO.

I’m not really sure if this makes the Hornets better. Overall, it may, but I think this makes them worse against the Spurs. Chandler was the exact kind of defender that Tim always struggles with. Okafor is the opposite. Tim can shoot over him.

Chandler was known as a better defender than an offensive force. All he could do on offense was catch alley oops-something I don’t think okafor can do quite as well. But I believe this is actually a good trade for the Hornets either way…

Wasn’t he more of a shot blocker than a “good defender”? As ATS has pointed out, being a shot blocker doesn’t always translate to being a good defender.

Hornets win in terms of players involved, but they lose money-wise, so it’s a wash.

I don’t like this trade for neither team.

I think this is better for the Spurs. They had a hell of a time defending the ’oop and like Wayne said, Timmy has an easier time against Okafor than Chandler.

Give a man a chicken and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to chicken and he'll call you crazy and question your command of the English language.

Okafor is a better player than Chandler, but Im not sure he’ll be a better fit.

If the Bobcats get Iverson, and he can score around 15 a game, this could be a great trade for them

Chandler or Iverson?

by spursfan87 on Jul 28, 2009 11:59 AM CDT up reply actions

For the team. They needed a true center and a scoring guard.

I dont care about this trade. The Hornets are not a dangerous team.

It is interesting to see them make a move that isn’t just a salary dump. I had them figured for dead/dying and thought they were unlikely to be a factor in the playoffs. At least there are signs of life – like they want to compete.

Did the hornets do this trade just to do something? It kinda feels this way to me, but i’m not complaining.
