Let's Try This Again...

Happy 32nd Birthday to Manu Ginobili, my favorite basketball player of all time and the Flying Spaghetti Monster's Personal Jesus.

Unless he wants to be a wise guy and move it back another month, that is. I wouldn't put it past him, since he is, you know, a wizard.

I can only commemorate the occasion with a Manu Youtube mix. I think this one might be the best (and longest) out there. Props to Santi for all his good work.

In other news, it is the eve of my first day on the job covering the 49ers for CBSSports.com, so I wrote an article about their no-name camp bodies since I had to memorize every guy's name and number on the team.

Also, because I'm in a good mood, here's another Youtube clip which brought a smile to my face. I can only dream of being in a wedding this happy some day. Chris Brown needs to send this couple one seriously kick ass wedding present because they've made his song blow up.

I knew you’d be back to finish the job. Manu appreciates your persistence, and the fact that you aren’t asking him long-winded, non-sensical questions. ; )

Oh, and good luck with the new job – I hope it leads to great things for you.

um, thank you, Rikkido. Also, check out the Niners page on bleacherreport.com where I will update almost nightly, to get a chance to do some actual, you know, writing.

P.S. R.I.P. Jim Johnson, you will be sorely missed.

Is there any way you could send me links when you post something new, so I can add them to TWSS? Or maybe a mailing list I can sign to?

I just finished a Day 1 recap, here. Hope everyone likes it.

It comes off as a bit Skip Bayless-ish, which makes my skin crawl, but I’m telling you, take anyone who doesn’t know about football and have them attend the two press conferences and ask them who was the first overall draft pick and who is the career journeyman, and there’s no way they would’ve guessed right.

Maybe an interview on the first day of camp is meaningless, but I doubt it in this case. Smith just has no presence.

I really liked all the stuff on the second page where you make it more personal like commenting how it made you feel old and how you wrap it up by comparing his work out to your own. Maybe I’d care more about the first page if I cared about the 49ers. The only player I care about on their team is Tarell Brown (CB from Texas). Crabtree, V. Davis, and Gore are mildly interesting to me.

Is it hard to write for die hard 49ers fans when you don’t care nearly as much? Do you just imagine yourself reading something about the Eagles? Or does none of that come to mind?

by BlaseE on Jul 29, 2009 10:38 AM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I prefer it this way, to be honest. I can stay objective with them because I don’t root for them. If I covered the Eagles I’d be afraid of being Fan Boy and sounding like an episode of The Chris Farley Show out there.

“Hey Brian Westbrook, remember when you took that screen pass in last year’s playoff game against the Vikings and made four guys miss and scored a 71 yard touchdown to ice the game?”

“Uh, yeah?”

“That was awesome!”

For that same reason, it’s probably best for everyone that I don’t live anywhere near San Antonio. Not only would Manu find me creepy, but I’d probably be kicked out of the building the first time I asked Tony why he doesn’t pass it to Ginobili more or asked Pop why he doesn’t call more plays for Manu.

I don’t know if I can be as professional as Wayne is. But he hates Manu and loves Tony so…

Picturing The Chris Farley Show was enough to make me laugh pretty hard and get dirty looks at work. Great analogy. Also, I’m sorry if I put you on the spot with that first link, it wasn’t my intent.

Or, as Mrs. ATS points out, too bad it is misspelled. That should be “INCONTHEIVABLE”.

ty, jrw for the welcome. i have been lurking around for the better part of this year, so i am aware of the tpb references. honestly, that’s mainly why i chose it. its been a minute since i’ve seen it and me and my best friend would randomly quote it to each other.
