The way everything is shaking out, would Odom be available for the MLE?

Possibly. I think Houston may pursue him now that the Lakers took Ron from them.

Well look at that… the Lakers replacing a young developing pitbull with a fully grown, mad, deranged, crazy, doubly psychopathic pitbull.

I wonder what happens when 2 psychopaths are on the same team.

This is bad. The Lakers just upgraded at the SF.

This stinks. Using the MLE on Artest is a steal. Thats what I heard the deal was. They will still have enough to sign Odom and they will. Odom and Artest are tight, they were hanging out a few nights ago in LA and I am guessing this was in part a deciding factor of Artest signing with the Lakers.

kd says it wont work… not a lot of people in the threads share his opinion though. but how could someone think it will not work? if odom and artest really are friends, and you add the huge personalities that phil and kobe are (and, in the case of Phil, zen-type, i’ll-remain-seated-no-matter-what-happens-on-the-court attitude), plus the smell of a ring, i think there is no way it won’t work. as other have said, it all amounts to upgrading Ariza with Artest. and yes, it IS an upgrade. we need badly one now too.

i could see why dude says ronron wouldn’t fit in the triangle… i think artest gets adjusted to the triangle in the regular season and will have it down by the playoffs.

one thing to remember about artest is that dude is injury prone.

and davis, we’ve got our own young developing PITTbull! (nickname worthy for the 37th pick???)

Ariza

Odom’s staying in LA is my guess, but it looks like Ariza has been meeting with Daryl Morey, so the Rockettes and Fakers might be swapping SF’s (shrug)…But PG, Kome, Arrest, Odom, Gasol is a scary good line-up…specially with Bynum off the bench

while this is a good pick up for stern and flakers something tells me this isn’t going to work as well as people think. just in case though we should ACTUALLY go after Sheed and stop bs ing around.

Ron Artest, don’t do this to me!! Ok, burn in hell. Along with David Stern, who obviously is holding your family ransom to get you to play ball with Kobe. Didn’t your mama ever tell you there are some things worth letting your family die for?

Should the Front Office have waited?

With the talented, SF’s that are currently free agents (particularly Artest and Ariza), does anyone else think that the front office should have waited on the jefferson deal, or at least tried to trade for a big man free agent with bowen, oberto, and thomas, and then tried to snatch one of them with the MLE? I mean, Artest is said to have gone to the Lakers for the MLE, and Ariza has said that he will consider signing to a team for the MLE as well (but not LA).

It just seems to me that the big men available are mostly too old, or too untalented, specially for the MLE, and for some strange reason, the wing players named above are neither old or talentless. and still signing for the MLE! Absurd!

Personally, I doubt we could have convinced to Artest to sign in SA, specially since he stated that one of the reasons he signed with the Lakers was because of the big city in LA, that would provide more financial opportunities as well. Besides, even if we could, I consider him too much of a ball stopper on offense, and I consider Jefferson to be more suited to our offense. Artest of course owns Jefferson on defense though. But I still prefer Jefferson for our team over Artest. As for Ariza, I think there might have been a chance for him to sign with us, but who would’ve thought that LA would offer him the MLE and that make him run away. As pop said, no one could’ve predicted what happened, or if they would sign here anyway. I’m glad the front office didn’t wait. Artest and Ariza were just pie in the sky back then. But the Ariza pie certainly looks tasty right now, and I can’t help but look and wonder what if.

I’ve secretly wanted the Spurs to pursue Artest the last 2 offseasons. But, as LD says, highsight is 20-20.

hey, so apparently we cant use the mle+vets min+biannual on one or two people…

thanks rikiddo…

so celts offer sheed full mle 2 yrs… orlando can offer less than mle, cavs, i think still has mle, but wont sheed (who already has a ring) and other younger bigs sign for bigger paychecks for a longer period of time with, say portland, or some other team? thus leaving us with FA leftovers.

wouldnt the FO offer sheed or someone else a longer contract?

But RJ is three times as expensive, and that matters. At equal salary, RJ’s better.

I really hope the front office does something, and quick. The free agents are running out. I hope that the fact that Rasheed will start here with the Spurs instead of coming off the bench in the Celtics pulls him over to San Antonio. However, I haven’t even heard of us offering him anything yet. So we should get on it.
