ATS Summer League Microscope Poll - Pick A Spur

Let's put a Spur under the microscope tonight.  Who should it be?

BTW, the specimen's yesterday were Jordan Hill, Joe Alexander, and Jerryd Bayless.  Expect reports on them over the next day or so.  I'm a little backed up with my stories right now.  I have 4, count them 4, microscope stories sitting there.

i voted for malik, given my long history of love for him.

its only two games against mostly rookies and scrubs, but malik looks to have really improved his game in a number of areas.

Hairston. I’d like to know how he’s been working on his game, and if he’s had any help with developing that great jumpshot he suddenly has.(Chip Engelland?)

Retire Bowen's #12!

Gist

I see him playing in the game, but I don’t see him doing anything.

Close second for McClinton. I thought this guy was supposed to make the roster and be a sharpshooter. What is the deal with him?

Did we really just add a player good enough to be guarded by Bruce Bowen?

Let’s see some DeJuan!

DeJuan, of course. I hope I’ll be able to watch this one.

All of the above?

Boy, so many choices, so much interest. I’m split between Hairston and Blair. I picked Hairston because I would like to know if he is good enough offensively to be in the rotation as the back-up SF for Richard Jefferson instead of Finley. However, I also want to know if Blair is good enough defensively to get significant minutes in the rotation (foot speed, post defense, etc.). So basically, half half. I want to know more about Hairston’s offense, and more about Blair’s defense. I pretty much know what they can do on the other ends.

I know you won’t be able to do that ATS, so whichever player you pick will be alright by me. Thanks.

Jack

find out why he thinks he’s struggling?
confidence?
pace?
defenders?
physicality?

McDyess can bring [toughness] back. Not sexy back unfortunately, though we already have Manu for that.~silverandblack_davis

I’m with Bones on this… I want to know what Malik can do.

I volunteer to put Cubits under the microscope while I watch league pass tonight.

Because I am all about the giving.

But of course, only because you are all about the giving. =)

Im all about knowing more and more about Yawn. To me he is the most important of all these players. He is our only long big besides Duncan. Can he be a productive rotation player? Just grab some rebounds and alter some shots in 20 minutes a game? If he can we are in a very good position.

i’m ok if the winer is jack mac, though i did not vote for him.

by bones on Jul 16, 2009 3:39 PM CDT reply actions

Gist is my choice, because i want to know what he’s doing out there. he hasn’t showed a lot, and since i can’t watch the games, it’d be nice to have someone break him down. he tore it up last year, and if he’s improved overseas, why isn’t he doing much now?

by znimrod on Jul 16, 2009 4:18 PM CDT reply actions

Great point, Z. Makes me want to change my vote from McClinton to Gist.

Ditto here. It’s hard to see how his game translate with the free feeds.

I hope Yawn or Gist gets benched tonight and Blair and the other are allowed to run wild for 35 minutes

or bench Hairston and start Gist as a big 3 and Blair at 4 and Yawn at the 5. Hairston and Beck have been carrying our offense but I’d like to really force Gist and McClinton to step it up.

Did we really just add a player good enough to be guarded by Bruce Bowen?

I’m still on the JackMac train… but I guess if he doesn’t get enough burn it’d be hard to put him under the ’scope.
