Zach Randolph was traded to the Grizzlies. I have ZERO idea why the Grizz would make this deal.

Could we possibly talk to them about Gasol now?

I seriously doubt it, they love Gasol. Before acquiring Randolph, they were talking about moving Gasol to the power forward position and playing Thabeet at center (since he has no offense). Now I think Thabeet will be a back up center and they’ll start Randolph and Gasol. Still though, they’re really high on Gasol. But dumb move by the Grizz… I was wondering how the hell the clips were gonna get rid of him. I guess stupidity has no limits.

I know I’m new, but I’ve been reading some of the comments for some time now, and this was just too funny to not reply in this way:

little o, new or not, you are welcome.

And I like your style — I predict that you’ll do well here at PtR, in fact

You know, I was joking about Haddadi up there, but then I read up on him. He’s a 7’2" BEAST in short minutes. Interesting.

because they have the worst GM in the NBA? Could that be why?

they drafted a guy 2nd overall who got dominated in the NCAA by Blair, whose “needs to work on” was basically OFFENSE, and who plays the same position (center) as their top rookie from last season (Gasol). Why not trade that 2nd pick to somebody who really wants Thabeet or even Rubio and get some assets?

I know you can’t trade picks obviously, but the other team can always tell you who to pick for them, yadda yadda yadda.

Or why not just draft Rubio yourselves? Conley hasn’t exactly panned out and they could use some excitement in Memphis to increase their 500 or so per game attendance. I don’t think Thabeet will be bringing people in by the bushel.

This makes no sense for either team.

I think it makes sense for the Clips. Not so much for the Grizz.

I should have clarified. I didn’t mean trading Randolph isn’t the way to go but Q. Richardson? They could have gotten something better. Richardson is almost as fat as Randolph these days.

The only way I see it making sense (for the Grizzlies side) is because they drafted Thabeet, who has no offense, just defense. When Gasol goes to the bench, and Thabeet is on the floor, they’re going to need a big who can contribute offensively. I guess they though Thabeet and Randolph can kinda compliment each other, by Randolph’s lack of defense rubbing off on Thabeet, and Thabeet’s lack of offense rubbing off on Randolph.

Still a stupid move in my opinion though, they could’ve found a better offensive big i’m sure.
