Spurs changed the Suns

I'll admit that yes I'm a Suns fan and yes I have a certain hatred for what the Spurs have done and even for one or two of their players, but that doesn't mean I don't respect what they have done.

As a Suns fan my sole obligation is to hate the entire Spurs franchise and I have in the past but as time passes and the wound heals I've come to respect one part in of the franchise in particular, Tim Duncan. No one since the Jordan era has influenced the game (with the exception of Shaquille O'neal) more than Tim Duncan and has done it in such a calm, quite, and graceful demeanor. A franchise player made of dreams made without any sense of an ego and as consistent as they come.

He along with the rest of the team changed what was popular, and they did it by keeping to themselves, other teams namely my Suns built off of what other teams did instead of looking on the inside and fixing the small problems. The trade for O'neal was jus that, a fix to the Lakers Gasol and the Spurs Duncan, the Suns could have changed the game even more had they won a title, they could have changed the idea of defense wins championships.

Instead the Suns changed based on how they thought they could beat the Spurs and in doing so doomed themselves, the Spurs again changed nothing not realizing they would end an entire era of another franchise. So for now I say congratulations, well done, kudos, until we meet again.

May our next meeting be in the playoffs.

it would’ve been interesting in 2007 if phoenix won. i think they take out lebroom’s cavs.

13 points in 39 seconds. Enough said.

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned this, but I will. As someone who lives in Phoenix, and has endured a lot of disgruntled whining from some Suns fans, I really appreciate the respectful tone you’ve chosen to take in your posts. I still disagree that they would’ve been able to win a championship without defense. I think Utah could have taken them out in the ‘07 WCF, but we’ll never know for sure.

Defense does win championships. It’s much more than an “idea”. It’s a Truth. Like gravity, it’s undeniable and trying to fight against it will only leave one frustrated, tired, and broken.

They would have had an outside shot in ’07, but the ’05 Pistons were a great team. Remember, they almost beat us in the Finals.

I believe the 2005 Pistons would’ve repeated if they’d have been lucky enough to play the Suns. The Pistons played defense.

If they had gone to McDyess in the fourth quarter, they might have beaten us. He was having an almost perfect game and in the fourth, the rest of the team decided to just forget that. I remember being relieved.

I’ve recently watched the 4th quarter of that game. Either McDyess or RWallace would have worked. Sheed was scoring almost every time he touched the ball.

Also, the Pistons made a ton of bad decisions at the end of that game. I know we were playing good great defense, but just some of the plays that they ran were, shall we say, highly questionable.

Yeah. For all the questions about McDyess’s knees back then, I remember him being one of the most efficient Piston on the floor for the series. Either ways, thank the FSM for bad decision making.

Dear Ere9517,

Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Now just come on over to the dark side. All are welcome… All are welcome.

Since when have any of us on this site ever admitted to having a problem? Granted, none of us are Suns fans.

She’s referring to your drinking problem.

Suns no-defense, no-championships

I’m with those who believe that the Suns were always fools gold and there was no realistic way they were ever going to win a championship. Fun team to watch, though — as were the Nuggets with Michael Adams and Fat Level and Run-TMC at Golden State…

And now, just because I will NEVER get tired of watching this video:

I think the Suns had a good chance to win, if Amar’e didn’t get suspended in that series against us. Still their fault though, they know the rules. I think the league felt bad for them afterwards, and since then has been taking back technicals during the playoffs in order to not have something like that happen again. Anyways, I felt that luck did not treat the Suns well during that era.
