I already knew this(Manu being traded) wasn’t a legit possiblity. Sure it looks feasible on paper(he’ll be 32 before the season tips off & he has an expiring contract), but I knew Pop would never consider this.

Beyond the obvious sacrilege involved in trading Manu, Pop is beyond pragmatic and is actually borderline psychotic about doing things his way.
Manu fits exactly into Pop’s scheme. If he were traded, Pop would then be looking for someone who can wear all of the hats that Manu does now…and there is only one Argentinean Assassin in the world.
The inconceivable scenario that Pop is talking about is getting a Kobe, LeBron or DWade for Manu. Outside of that, there is not a chance in hell that Manu is traded.

Nice. I agree with this statement from Pop. Now if they would just sign him up for 3 more years.

I would think because everyone knows just how important Manu is to the organization, even while injured, that it had to be Manu (and maybe someone else) for VC and atleast someone else. VC makes more that Manu too, too.

I wouldn’t be so quick to assume nothing is going to happen. Manu told the Argentine press he expects to be traded, and he has put his house on the market (along with Oberto and the JV).

He just said that they hadn’t sat down with him In San Antonio to discuss an extension. And that a year ago he thought being traded would be impossible, but that these days there was a chance. That’s it.
If you know what Manu’s like, that’s just him being honest. But then both Tony and Pop addressed the issue directly, so…

Yeah I’m with LatinD. Manu, like Pop, just doesn’t think in absolutes like “I’ll never be traded” or “I’m always going to be a Spur.” You just can’t assume these things as a player. I think that’s what Manu meant.
