PtR Twitter?
I have a Blackberry and I have the site's RSS on my viigo app, along with Twitterberry to make tweeting very easy and quick. So that leads to my question, would it be cool with you guys if I ran a twitter for the blog? I could just post the links to all the feed an all the fanposts, for easy access to people on the go. Just an idea for my fellow tweeters to think about.

Getting a PtR twitter thing going is high on my list of things to do now that the season is over. Send me an email with what you wanted to do.

How many people on this site use twitter?
I’m in the facebook camp and I see no need to Twitter. Am I missing something? Anyone else in my boat too?

I have a Twitter account — never use it anymore. I have a Facebook account, and people have to poke me and gripe at me to get me to check it at all. I used to be very active on both but I unplugged to preserve my sanity and maintain the ability to focus on one thing at a time.
Multitasking kills.

I am neither a 54 year old pedophile nor a 12 year old girl, so I don’t have Facebook. And since Twitter seems the same, well, you can probably guess my answer.

I have a facebook account… (so many work associates do).
However, I’m with cranky… I don’t like it either.

the 54 year old pedo/12 year old girl thing is myspace. facebook is more for lonely 20/30-somethings. while twitter is for those with ADHD.

Which category does he fall into?

Because of this thread, I just went and futzed around on my FB account for 15 minutes while at work. See? I knew this would happen!
Now I have to go friend Manu. . . .

so much for being his friend

I guess E. E. Cummings doesn’t translate well in Argentina.

so, who ya gonna believe? the preface of his own book, or his unreliable widow?
ah, I’ll admit it, I’m grasping at straws — he used both, that much is clear. I just remember freshman english, feeling so freed by the idea of a published and celebrated poet defying the tyranny of established punctuation. EE or ee or E.E. or e.e. — his stuff is great regardless.

I fucking love that..um…collection of letters. First time I saw it I couldn’t believe someone would have the literary balls to do that.

Hey, pretty nice. I’d never read Cummings’ poetry. Interesting… I just read a few after reading the wiki article.
Wonder how you’re supposed to read that out loud.

I have Facebook because of my significant other, and Myspace because I like them young. But I haven’t caught on to Twitter yet.
I think the interesting thing is how extremely popular sites like Youtube and Twitter are nothing but money drainers, it’s like the dot com bust all over again.

Exactly, the sucker in all of this is Google. Unless they figure an awesome new way to put ads on videos.
It’s pretty sweet though, you figure out how to make a website that’s really popular, the website starts appearing everywhere and becomes a cultural phenomenon, the hot new thing is to be part of the website, one of the big companies approaches you to buy the website, you sell the website and enjoy retirement while the big company tries to figure out a business model.

It’s another way for Google to make you use their soft. Think of the Gmail/Chrome tie-ins. Think of the interaction with Google Earth. It makes perfect sense for a megacompany hellbent on Internet domination.

I can understand what you guys are saying, and though most of you aren’t hot on the idea, it isn’t completely intended for the users that already post here, since it could attract new members who happen to follow the feed, so I don’t know, with the popularity of it nowadays, it can’t hurt.

i set up an account today on twitter but i don’t really understand how it really works or anything. I followed a few people already, like stephen colbert, JE skeets, kenny powers, kinglaserface (fake phillip rivers), but still, i have no idea what to do with twitter, considering my phone can only send 160 letter texts and store 250 numbers.

I like the idea, too — just because I am suffering from app burnout and multitasking backlash doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be a lot of people who would enjoy it.

Why not make a Twitter AND Facebook account at the same time? I have the latter and occasionally use it. I hear you can also post updates in Facebook through your mobile phone, so isn’t that a Twitter-like function too?

I check FB entirely through my Blackberry now (when I remember to check it . . .).
by Lauri on May 4, 2009 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
You could, although Twitter is much easier to update, and you won’t have to deal with comments and all that other shit.
by Linix129 on May 4, 2009 9:13 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well, don’t we PtR people just looooove posting comments? I’m part of the GTAS Comics and BDL group in FB, and if we had one on PtR no doubt I’ll join, too. But if it’s too much work, ’tis okay we go the Twitter route :)

Twitter is for instant short updates. During the playoffs, fans on the scene would tweet about whose going into the locker room, what the ppl on bench are talking about etc. Its different from facebook at least in the way I see it. You can subscribe to a whole bunch of bloggers and ‘news’ ppl and well you get instant updates the moment something goes down.
The silver dancers and coyote were giving away free playoff tickets for each game throughout the playoffs on twitter. So some fun aspects.
Facebook is more of a social site. I barely talk on either, but twitter gives you cool info and LD, you might wanna note that a bunch of the silver dancers tweet regularly and you get some insights into daily spurs silver dancer routines. Oh wait…I forgot, yer third world and not cool enough yet :P
