Friday Night Loser Thread: Minimum Required Effort Edition.
When I came over to this country, I was a pretty applied student. I went to the 8th grade without knowing any english, and still got mostly A's. Which says a lot about the quality of the education here, or maybe I'm just a genius.
Then I discovered the idea of "minimum effort". As in, doing what you have to do to just pass, and then fuck it. For me, that entailed not doing any homework but doing well in test so I could pass the class.
The PTR crowd is fairly well educated. So to all the slackers underachievers like me, this is your thread. Insightful comments? Fuck it. Funny jokes that are smart? Fuck it.
This is the minimum required effort thread, time to bring your C game!

And finally . . .
This man’s life and the lives of his entire family are ruined by Jimmy Dean’s marketing decision.
Warning: He kind of forgets to hang up the phone there at the end and the language takes a turn for the NSFW.

I’m working tomorrow and Sunday and Monday. Tonight, I’m going to have a drink. And stay up late if I want. And sleep late tomorrow, too.

Oh no, an elderly Cavs fan got creamed on the sidelines.
Walk it off, mister.

eh just wanted to ask about the “featured stories” section. Thought I knew how to add to it, but I guess not – heh.
Free James Gist!
Just a guess here, but I think they have to be stories not fanposts. Stories are the front page articles. They seem to be handled differently than the Fanposts and Fanshots for stuff like that.

For instance, you can’t put the Fanposts into the sections. Which is a bummer.

Would Sasha Fierce be as annoying if it weren’t for the hair? The Cavs’ Pavlovic is the same type of player, but he doesn’t bother me as much. Or am I just crazy?
So guys, who are we rooting for in this one? I don’t care one way or the other. I do really like the Lebron puppet commercial where he keeps throwing powder in the air, though, much more than the Fave Five commercial where Video Dwight Howard pulls his hamstring (which appears to be on his ankle).

I think we’re rooting for the Magic, but I don’t care either way. I like Turkish-glue, but the Cavs don’t piss me off. If you think about it, the Cavs play defensive basketball like we used to. They’re one of the “boring” teams, its just that they have LeBron.
My tapeworm tells me what to do.
Good question. I know we’re mostly pulling for Denver in the WCF… except for Lauri & Riki.
I’m pulling for the Magic. I don’t want a Lebron/Kobe Final.
Superman wears Manu Ginobili pajamas to bed. - CMoney
Free George Hill! (member #3)
Yes, but can you imagine the smack-talk from your neighbors/co-workers if Denver makes the finals? I want Denver to be there as much as anyone(no matter what bella says), but I would probably go on a shooting spree if the Suns ever made the finals.
Or maybe nugget fans aren’t that obnoxious?
Free James Gist!
Nuggets fans don’t give me crap. They don’t like the Spurs, but tend to respect them. I honestly think that beating LA is more important to them than winning a chip at this point.
What are you talking about Riki? I want Denver to beat LA… aren’t you the LA fan?

He did. I’m shocked they called it—I thought it might be some ticky-tack junk against Howard. Lebron made an incredibly tough shot after the whistle that would have put them up two.

Having a three year old, I can’t help but feel bad for sad little kids, even when they are rooting for evil. I think to myself, “that’s Max in a few years, when TD has retired and his beloved Spurs are terrible.”

Oh my goodness, just caught up to the ending on DVR. I thought Lebron’s shot had no chance when he caught it.
Still, Orlando went toe-to-toe with Cleveland on their home court, came away with a split, and missed winning both by one second. This series is going the distance, methinks.

After watching the Magic have several last minute meltdowns against the Celtics, I didn’t think they had it in them to come back like this.
My tapeworm tells me what to do.
Yup… four great games.
Would it have killed them to stick to Lebron on the final possession? How was he so wide open?

Because he’s 6’8", 270 lbs, and can jump higher than anyone in the league. He wasn’t open when he caught it, only after he elevated.

You know what, I’m so over Kleiza and Balkman. I think Lebron would be a good fit for us at the three. I bet Tony would even pass to him sometimes.

Oh, I had to come back to show you what Manu just posted on Facebook:
Manu Ginobili: No se puede creer!! Qué final!! CLAP CLAP! Estaba ya entrando para decir algo de Hedo y tengo que cambiar por Lebron a último momento. Impresionante el tiro que metió. Qué lindo es el básquet! Quiero jugar YA!! //// Wow! What a game! I was about to say something about Hedo but had to change it for LBJ. Unbelievable. What a shot. Congrats. We are watching great conference finals. I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!
Yep… If you read his posts regularly he subtly switches changes things from the Sanish to the English version. Most of the time it doesn’t matter. But that last line is huge.
I want him to play now, too.

I just saw a highlight on TNT where JJ Redick was matched up against Lebron James. That may be the biggest mismatch in basketball history (not counting Lebron against 5’8" guys in high school). At least NBA history. As you would imagine, it ended with Redick tripping and Lebron throwing down a vicious dunk.
